Junior Dylan Hull hurled a complete-game shutout, and Soquel High’s baseball team posted its second convincing win over rival Santa Cruz in the span of four days Friday, winning 9-0, to take sole possession of first place in the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League.

After losing to the Cardinals 3-2 in the teams’ first meeting March 25, the Knights bounced back with a 10-4 win Tuesday and followed it up with another stellar performance.

Hull gave up two hits and one walk, beaned one batter, and struck out two batters. The Knights played error-free defense behind him.

Jake Escalante and Noah Piona each had two hits and two RBI for the Knights (19-1, 7-1), ranked No. 7 in the Central Coast Section by maxpreps.com. Escalante also scored a run.

Connor Corlett had two hits and scored twice. Enzo Goff had a hit, one RBI, and scored twice. Cash Moran, Gabe Virgallito, and Brady Downs each had a hit, one RBI, and scored a run.

Santa Cruz (10-7, 7-2) plays a nonleague doubleheader on Saturday. The Cardinals face Fowler at Kingsburg High at 3 p.m. and Kingsburg at 6 p.m.

Soquel plays at Aptos on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

At Monte Vista Christian 8, Stevenson 1 >> Sophomore Chris Bautista threw a complete-game two-hitter, and the Mustangs on Friday avenged their Pacific Coast Athletic League Mission Division loss to the Pirates from two days ago.

Bautista gave up four walks and struck out four batters.

Junior Jackson Haddad had two hits, two walks, three RBI, and scored twice for the Mustangs (15-4, 6-2).

Sophomore Parker Brown hit two doubles and scored three runs. Senior Tyson Shaw had three hits and scored a run. Senior Brady Cortez had two hits, including a double, and one RBI.

MVC hosts Milpitas (2-14) in a nonleague game on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Bishop Montgomery 9, St. Francis 7 >> The Sharks lost their final game to finish 1-3 at the Central Coast Classic in Santa Maria on Friday.

Dononvan Dominguez had two hits, one RBI, and scored twice for the Sharks.

Sean Yanko had two hits, two RBI, and scored a run for the the Knights (14-10).

St. Francis (10-10, 6-6) hosts Monterey (7-13, 5-7) in PCAL Gabilan Division action on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Saint Monica Prep 13, at Watsonville 8 >> Senior Kaden Ortiz had four hits, two RBI, and scored twice for the Wildcatz in their nonleague loss Friday.

Ben Miller had a hit and three RBI for the Wildcatz. Rudy Valdez had two hits, one RBI, and scored a run. Patrick Miller-Brown had two hits and scored a run. Mathew Silva had a hit and scored twice.

Dylan Hyman had one hit, three RBI, and scored twice for the Mariners (10-11). Gabriel Campbell had two hits, two walks, four of his team’s 13 stolen bases, and scored twice.

Logan Meyer earned the win and Ortiz took the loss.

Watsonville (9-10) hosts vs San Lorenzo Valley (2-15) in a nonleague game on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Girls lacrosse

Scotts Valley 17, MVC 6 >> Colorado College committed Sofia Niklaus had one of her best games in the Falcons’ PCAL win Friday.

She finished with a career-high in goals and points after recording 10 goals and one assist. She also had 20 draw possessions (80% draw win rate), three draw controls, five caused turnovers, and six ground balls.

Skylar Dufour had one goal, two assists. 17 draw controls, and seven ground balls for the Falcons. Dillon Fiorita had three goals and an assist, and Lola Ritsema had two goals and an assist. Claire Skinner also scored.

Goalie Ava Keller who made two saves in the first half, and Natalia Warner made four saves in the second half.

Scotts Valley (6-2) hosts Carmel on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Girls swimming

Aptos 105, at Harbor 68 >> Natalie Allen and Rose Lockwood each won two individual events and the Mariners won their SCCAL finale Friday.

Allen took first in the 200 freestyle (2:02.00) and 500 free (5:36.65), and Lockwood took first in the 100 butterfly (1:08.75) and 200 individual medley (2:31.22).

Adelaide Friedley (100 free, 55.78) and Mary Suarez-Abraham (100 breaststroke, 1:21.47) also earned wins. The Mariners also took first in the 200 free relay (1:46.06) and 200 medley relay (2:01.57).

Harbor received wins from Zia Jaggar (100 backstroke, 1:10.94), Serena Manildi (50 free, 27.81), and its 400 free relay team (4:24.15).

The SCCAL Championships take place at Harbor High on May 3 at 10 a.m.

At Santa Cruz 85, Scotts Valley 20 >> The Cardinals took first in seven events in their SCCAL finale Friday.

Annika Seasholes (50 free, 27:47), Aliana Merriam (100 free, 1:07.85), Farrah Hartje (100 back, 1:20.40), and Isla Cooper (200 IM, 2:49.81) earned wins for Santa Cruz. The Cardinals also took first in the 200 free relay (1:58.25), 200 medley relay (2:21.19), and 400 free relay (4:49.97).

Scotts Valley’s Annika Kiesby took first in the 100 breast (1:19.53) and 200 free (1:13.00), and the Falcons’ Lily Myers won in the 500 free (7:04.91).

The SCCAL Championships take place at Harbor High on May 3 at 10 a.m.

Boys swimming

Aptos 106, at Harbor 62 >> Thomas Westfall, Peter Friedley, and Gavin Abundis each won two individual events and the Mariners won their SCCAL finale Friday.

Westfall took first in the 200 free (1:56.19) and 500 free (5:17.87), Friedley took first in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.50) and 200 IM (2:16.28), and Abundis took first in the 100 free (51.90) and 100 backstroke (1:00.31).

Elijah Souza (100 fly, 54.84) also earned a win, as did the Mariners’ 200 medley relay team in a new CCS qualifying time (1:45.65), and 400 freestyle relay (3:32.34).

Harbor’s Elias Keen-Server took first in the 50 free (22.33), and the Pirates won the 200 free relay in a new CCS qualifying time (1:34.09).

The SCCAL Championships take place at Harbor High on May 3 at 10 a.m.

At Santa Cruz 84, Scotts Valley 25 >> Robert Murphy took first in the 100 back (1:07.66) and 500 free (5:47.63) to lead the Cardinals in their SCCAL finale Friday.

Hayden Johnson (50 free, 23.62), Xavier Hunter (100 free, 55.37), Martin Cruz (100 breast, 1:04.07), and Pa‘Kalani Saxton-Vaca (200 free, 2:16.16) also earned wins for Santa Cruz.

The Cardinals also won the 200 free relay (1:50.67), 200 medley relay (1:58.53), and 400 free relay (4:14.88).

Scotts Valley’s Brent Kong took first in the 100 fly (56.96) and 200 IM (2:07.75).

The SCCAL Championships take place at Harbor High on May 3 at 10 a.m.

Beach volleyball

Harbor 4, Scotts Valley 1 >> Hayden Smith and Aila Papapoulos beat Tea Stockwell and Grace Stryker 17-31,21-14,15-10 in the No. 1 pairs battle for the Falcons’ lone win in the teams’ SCCAL match at Main Beach.

Harbor’s Dylan Schutz and Liberty Niesen beat Makayla McDonnell and Rylee Giesen 23-21, 22-24, 15-8 at No. 2s, and the Pirates’ Cecile Novembre and Lise Corstophine beat Maddy Pipal and Dylan Wing 21-14, 12-21, 15-4 at No. 3s.

Harbor won in straight sets at No. 4s and 5s.

Scotts Valley (2-3) plays SLV at Main Beach on Thursday at 4 p.m.
