Aaron Rodgers and Garrett Wilson talk to each other a lot.
Sometimes they can get a little animated while making a point.
But when a video shot by a fan and posted on social media last week showed the New York Jets quarterback and wide receiver having what some termed “a heated disagreement” on the sideline, it sent the internet and sports talk radio into a frenzy.
A few other recent training camp videos showing similar conversations only added to the worries by fans that maybe Rodgers and Wilson are having some issues with their on-field chemistry.
“I think there’s often appearance vs. reality in life and on the football field,” Rodgers said.
“I love those conversations,” Rodgers said. “It’s about the details, it’s about winning, it’s about seeing what he sees. ... So, those are good conversations.
“They might appear to be much more heated than they are, but there’s usually a smile on our face afterward. At least one of us is.”
The videos show that, too, with the two often ending their conversations with a hug or high-five.
Bills sign Burgess for safety depth
The Buffalo Bills shored up an injury-depleted position by signing safety Terrell Burgess to a one-year contract on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old Burgess has four seasons of NFL experience after spending last year appearing in 12 games, including one start, with the Washington Commanders.
His signing comes a day after rookie safety Cole Bishop sustained an undisclosed injury and did not return to practice.
Burgess’ signing marked the second straight day Buffalo has added a safety. Kareem Jackson, a 14-year veteran, joined the Bills on Tuesday in a move that followed the team announcing safety Mike Edwards will miss several weeks with a right hamstring injury.

Cavaliers, Allen agree to 3-year extension
Cavaliers center Jarrett Allen has agreed to a three-year, $91 million contract extension with Cleveland, a person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press on Wednesday.
Allen, who has become indispensable for the Cavs as well as one of the Eastern Conference’s top big men, will be guaranteed $131 million over the next five seasons, said the person who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the deal has not been signed.
The Cavs hope to announce Allen’s extension as early as Thursday, the person said.
The 26-year-old Allen is the third key player to sign an extension with the Cavs this summer, following deals for Donovan Mitchell (3 years, $150.3 million) and Evan Mobley (5 years, $224 million). The team also hired Kenny Atkinson as its new coach.

Kunetsov to play in Russia for four years
Former Carolina Hurricanes center Evgeny Kuznetsov will return to Russia to continue his career, signing a four-year contract with SKA Saint Petersburg, the Kontinental Hockey League announced.
Kuznetsov’s contract with the Hurricanes was terminated two weeks ago by mutual agreement after he cleared unconditional waivers. Kuznetsov walked away from the $6 million salary owed to him in the final season of his $64.2 million, seven-year deal originally signed in 2017. Terms of his contract in the KHL were not announced.
The NHL in September 2019 suspended Kuznetsov three games without pay for “inappropriate conduct,” less than a month after he was banned from playing for Russia for four years because of a positive test for cocaine.
Kuznetsov more recently entered the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program in February. Upon him being cleared by program administrators to practice, the Capitals put him on waivers.

Letter asks X to remove illegal content
Some of Europe’s main broadcasters and top soccer leagues have sent a letter to the CEO of social media platform X, Linda Yaccarino, demanding more action against the distribution of illegal content.
The letter, which was obtained by The Associated Press, had 14 signatories, including the Premier League, Spanish league, Bundesliga, Italian league, DAZN, Sky, beIN, DirecTV and Movistar Plus+. Soccer governing bodies UEFA and CONMEBOL also signed the letter.
“X’s approach to taking down unlawful live content notified to them is woefully insufficient and inadequate,” the letter said. “Critically, since you acquired the platform, we have witnessed a demoralizing reduction in technical support making it ever more difficult to engage with the platform in any kind of meaningful discussion on this topic.”
The platform formerly known as Twitter did not immediately respond to a request from the AP for comment.
Saudi Arabia proposes ’34 World Cup space
Saudi Arabia detailed a massive stadium building project Wednesday to host the 2034 World Cup in men’s soccer, with one venue 350 meters (yards) above ground in a planned futuristic city.
A 46,000-seat stadium in the Neom megaproject along the Red Sea coast is “designed to stand out among the world’s most iconic landmarks,” according to the first overall World Cup plan published by Saudi soccer officials.
The Neom stadium is set to link to a network of tram-like vehicles running in “horizontal transport corridors … placed at 30, 150, 250, 350 and 450 meters above ground,” the Saudi plans stated.
