The Davis Musical Theatre Company’s Young Performers’ Theatre will also be presenting their production of “Matilda the Musical, Jr.” beginning in May.

Matilda Wormwood, an intelligent, savvy and witty young girl with telekinetic abilities, is unloved by her cruel parents and disliked by the school’s mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, who hates children. However, she manages to impress her schoolteacher, the highly loveable Miss Honey. Utilizing her telekinetic abilities and with the help of Miss Honey, Matilda attempts to settle the score with the principal.

“Rebellion is nigh in ‘Matilda Jr.,’ a gleefully witty ode to the anarchy of childhood and the power of imagination!” a press release from DMTC said. “This story is about a girl who dreams of a better life and the children she inspires will have audiences rooting for the ‘revolting children’ who are out to teach the grownups a lesson.”

“Matilda the Musical, Jr.” is set to open May 6 and run through May 28 at the Jean Henderson Performing Arts Center in Davis, located at 607 Pena Dr.

Tickets are $8 for all ages. They can be purchased online at dmtc.org or by calling (530) 756-3682.
