Scotts Valley High junior Ava Decleve and Monte Vista Christian’s Kylie Brunelli posted top-five finishes in the small school division cross country race at the Artichoke Invitational in Half Moon Bay on Saturday.

Decleve took second out of 159 runners on the 2.3-mile course. She finished in 14 minutes, 23 seconds.

Brunelli (14:55) took fourth.

Prospect senior Kylie Hoorrnaert, the defending Central Coast Section Division III champion, took first in 14:13.

Santa Cruz freshman Isla Roake (15:03) took sixth, and San Lorenzo Valley senior Naomi Seastrom (15:47) took 16th.

MVC and Scotts Valley each placed three runners in the top 25.

Mustangs freshman Anna Conca (15:51) took 17th and sophomore teammate Finley Castro (15:53) took 18th, and Falcons junior Jennifer Brownfield (16:06) took 23rd and classmate Dylan Turzak (16:08) took 24th.

Scotts Valley (113) took second behind Piedmont (74) in the 18-team race.

Freshman Natalia Warner (17:42) also scored for the Falcons.

Women’s soccer

UC Santa Cruz 1, at Cal Lutheran 1 >> Camille Anneet’s third goal of the season helped the Banana Slugs earn a draw with the defending NCAA D-III champion Regals on Sunday.

Anneet scored in the 55th minute.

Nevaeh Rascon scored the equalizer in the 83rd minute for the No. 18 Regals (7-0-4).

Goalie Ainsley Gove made five saves for UCSC. Kelsey Slaugh made eight saves for Cal Lutheran.

UCSC (5-2-5) plays at Lincoln University in Alameda on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Boys water polo

Monterey Bay Invitational >> Soquel went 3-1 and finished fifth at the Monterey Bay Invitational, hosted by Stevenson School.

The Knights beat Willow Glen 14-4, and lost to Archbishop Mitty 9-8 on Friday. On Saturday, they beat Pacific Grove 20-6 and Stevenson 13-6.

Junior Stryder Stelck totaled 13 goals and five steals, senior Cash Wolf finished with 12 goals and 11 steals, and senior Noah Piona had 10 goals and seven assists.

Senior goalie Jacob Henshaw made 36 saves, nine steals and scored one goal over four games.
