Offense was at a premium as the top-seeded Willow Glen softball team hosted No. 8 Archbishop Mitty in the Central Coast Section Open Division quarterfinals.

Captain Katelynn Dilbeck came through for Willow Glen, homering in the second inning Saturday to lead her team to a 1-0 victory over Mitty and into the semifinals. Willow Glen pitcher Alanna Clincy earned the shutout as she struck out 10 and allowed five hits.

Willow Glen (27-0) plays No. 4 Capuchino (21-6) today at 4 p.m. at West Valley College.

Mitty (14-8-1) brought the tying run to third base in the seventh inning. Rylie Hicks doubled to lead off and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Alyssa Cabrera, but Clincy retired the final two batters with a strikeout and groundout to third.

No. 2 St. Francis 7, No. 7 Los Gatos 0: St. Francis scored early and added on late to take care of business in the CCS Open Division quarterfinals on Saturday. Ava Bulanti set the tone for the Lancers (24-3) with six no-hit innings, and Hailey Nguyen finished the game with a scoreless seventh.

Maya Yumiba scored on an error in the first inning, and Malianna Liongitau homered in the second to put St. Francis up 2-0.

The Lancers put the game out of reach in the fifth as May Meltz homered, Jaime Oakland drove in Yumiba with a single, and Bulanti scored Oakland with an RBI groundout.

St. Francis faces No. 6 Salinas in the semifinals on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at West Valley College. Salinas beat No. 3 Monterey 3-2 on Saturday.

Los Gatos finished 18-8-1.

CCS Division I

No. 1 Live Oak 11, No. 8 Homestead 1: The top-seeded Acorns made quick work of Homestead, defeating the Cupertino school in a five-inning mercy-rule decision.

Sophomore Julianna Altamirano struck out 11 and allowed just one run across five innings. Junior Olivia Mixco was 3 for 4 with four RBIs and a home run. Live Oak (24-2) will play The King’s Academy today at Los Gatos High.

No. 4 The King’s Academy 3, No. 5 Hollister 2 (9 innings): TKA rallied at home with a run in the bottom of the seventh and then walked off Hollister with a run in the ninth to advance to the semifinals. Hannah Woo had a double and an RBI, and Mia Bennette drove in a run to lead TKA (18-7), which will play top-seeded Live Oak today for a berth in the final. Hollister finished 14-12.

CCS Division III

No. 4 Westmont 4, No. 5 Los Altos 1: Westmont scored all four runs in the second inning to defeat Los Altos at home. Sophomores Kristen Johiro and Sophia Burich and freshman Lucky Felder knocked in a run for the Warriors. Senior Regan Steele pitched a complete game, striking out three and scattering six hits in the win. Westmont (14-14) will play Mountain View at MacDonald High on Wednesday. Los Altos finished the year 14-11.

Baseball CCS Division I

No. 5 St. Francis 2, No. 4 St. Ignatius 1: Nick Chow struck out seven in six innings and Landon Kim pitched a scoreless seventh for the save as St. Francis held off St. Ignatius to set up a semifinals matchup against Serra on Wednesday at Excite Ballpark. Sione Tulua and Tanner Wall knocked in St. Francis’ runs. SI cut the margin in half in the sixth on a run-scoring hit by Beau Schaffer. St. Francis improved to 19-9. SI finished 17-10-2.

CCS Division II

No. 8 Capuchino 5, No. 1 Leigh 3: It didn’t appear Mustangs pitcher Declan Mendel would last long after he gave up three hits and hit a batter to start the bottom of the first inning. But the senior right-hander was brilliant after that, allowing one hit and striking out three in Capuchino’s quarterfinal upset of No. 1 seed Leigh. The Longhorns led 3-0 after that first inning, but Capuchino (18-10) put together a 14-hit attack and scored two runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth. Travis Ciardella, one of six Mustangs with two or more hits, drilled a two-run double in the fifth to break a 3-3 tie.

No. 2 Menlo-Atherton 6, No. 7 Pioneer 1: M-A scored three in the first, stretched its advantage to six after four innings and cruised into the semifinals with a win at home over Pioneer. MJ Ellazar had a hit and drove in two runs, Ryder Kelly had three hits, including two doubles, and Merrick Lee added three hits and an RBI to lead the Bears. Wes Peterson pitched four innings and Anthony Kabrich was on the mound for three as M-A (21-7) advanced to next week’s semifinals. Pioneer finished 14-11.

No. 5 Wilcox 12, No. 4 Archbishop Mitty 3: Matthew Tiendas had three hits and knocked in four runs, and Jake Prettol had two hits and three RBIs as Wilcox breezed past host Mitty in a quarterfinal game. The Chargers scored a run in the first and one in the second, then erupted for five in the third and five in the fourth to break open the game. Wilcox (20-8) advances to the semifinals on Wednesday against eighth-seeded Capuchino at Santa Clara University. Mitty finished 13-16.

NCS Division IV

No. 13 Las Lomas 7, No. 5 Moreau Catholic 1: Noah Sison and Tyler Van Deusen combined on a one-hitter Saturday as visiting Las Lomas beat No. 5 seed Moreau Catholic in the quarterfinals of the NCS D-IV playoffs. Three days earlier, the Knights blanked fourth-seeded Ft. Bragg 1-0 in the first round.

Alessandro Martinez-Cabrera threw a no-hitter. In two NCS playoff games, both on the road, Las Lomas pitchers have worked 14 innings, allowed one hit, one run, walked six and have 16 strikeouts. Sison pitched the first six innings against Moreau Catholic (16-10) and was ahead 7-1 when he departed. He walked four and struck out six. Van Deusen pitched a spotless seventh. The Knights will visit Healdsburg on Wednesday in the semifinals.

NCS Division II

No. 5 Acalanes 10, No. 4 Campolindo 0: The Dons scored six runs in the first inning, three in the second, and the game was called after five innings due to the 10-run rule.

Acalanes was up 4-0 before an out was recorded in the top of the first. The first six Dons’ batters reached base, three on hits, three on walks. Acalanes only had four hits, but took advantage of eight walks and three Campolindo errors. Keegan Goddard had two hits, scored twice and drove in two runs for the Dons (15-10-1). Tyler Winkles had a double and two RBIs. Three pitchers combined on a two-hitter.
