The best and perhaps hottest spots in Denver to grab green chile — as determined by more than a thousand reader responses — are moving on to the Sweet Sixteen.
See where the Denver Post’s annual food bracket stands:
A steady number of votes poured in over the weekend, and some of the matchups were very, very close: Sam’s No. 3 beat out Tamales by La Casita by just a handful, for instance, while Chula on Broadway, D’Corazon and Las Cazuelas all beat their opponents by slim margins.
There were also blowouts. Los Dos Potrillos got 70% of the vote against Chili Verde, while Taqueria La Familia beat out Chakas with 78%. Santiago’s, a longtime Colorado fixture, garnered a whopping 87% of the vote in its matchup.
Voting in our Sweet Sixteen round kicks off today and ends at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 10. To support your favorites, to denverpost.com/theknow.
Please remember to play fairly as we continue to vote. We’ll do our part to monitor each round to make sure the voting isn’t being spammed. Also, we hope that you’ll use this competition as a guide to discovering some new green chile spots near you.
