A Cedar Lake couple hadn’t planned to welcome their son on New Year’s Day, but he was a bit impatient.

Christopher Moore was born at 11:06 a.m. Wednesday at Franciscan Health Crown Point to his parents, Patricia Brooks and Charles Moore, Sr., according to a Franciscan Health spokesperson. He weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces and measured 19 inches long.

He received the distinction of being Franciscan Health Crown Point’s first baby of 2025 and his parents received a gift basket containing items them during their first weeks at home.

Brooks said her due date Jan. 4 and she had planned to be induced Thursday.

“I was really surprised, but it’s kind of cool to have a baby on New Year’s Day,” Brooks said in a release.

His older brother, Charles Moore Jr., 9, wondered what all the fuss was about.

“I don’t really know,” he said.
