Oakland County clerk officials will test election equipment on Monday and Tuesday. The public is invited to watch and ask questions.
The tested equipment will be used by the county’s absent-voter county board during early voting for the Aug. 5 primary.
“The public testing of election equipment is done before every election, big and small, to ensure our elections are accurate and secure,” said Oakland County Clerk/ Register of Deeds Lisa Brown. She encouraged people to attend and see for themselves how the machines work.
The primary election will determine the following contests:
• Pontiac: Mayor, one council-at-large seat and the library board;
• Southfield: Mayor;
• Novi: A 25-year, $120 million bond request for new public safety facility, furniture, equipment, replacements for Fire Stations 2 and 3 and renovations to Fire Station 4;
• Oakland Township: Two proposals, each related to the Rochester Hills Library and cost increases.
• Northville Public Schools: A 10-year, 0.9357 millage renewal used to build or repair schools, improve school security, to add or upgrade technology.
Residents can sign up for email reminders from the clerk’s office at www.oakgov.com/clerkrod/elections.
