Buhl, Idaho
Patty was born in Hayward, California, November 19, 1950, the second child of Ivan and Erma Schrank. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, May 30, 2023, in Buhl, Idaho after battling Alzheimer’s disease for several years.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bob Carter; children Michael Bottemiller, Stacy McClenahan and Cassie McClenahan; granddaughter, Chelsea Bottemiller; brothers Dave Schrank (Carlene) and Mick Schrank (Kari); niece Cyndi Schrank (Erin) and nephews Kevin Schrank (Gina) and Brian Schrank; great niece Kayla Schrank, and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ivan and Erma Schrank, husband Jim McClenahan, and nephew David Schrank.
Patty’s family moved from Hayward to Fremont, California when it was full of cherry orchards. She graduated from Washington High School in 1968 and attended many of their high school reunions. She later moved to the east foothills in San Jose and lived there many years before moving to Buhl, Idaho in 2020.
She worked at a variety of jobs as a young woman including a prison, NASA, and a secretary at her church.
Patty had a lifelong love of music. She played the accordion as a child, took up the guitar as an adult and had a prized 1924 Martin guitar. She attended many concerts in her lifetime. She loved to sing and did so at her church in the choir and solo performances and was in several bands. Her daughters inherited their mom’s singing ability.
Patty also loved to dance. She could always be seen on the dance floor at weddings and other events and took up square dancing which she excelled at. She participated in square dance events for several years and attended them out of state as well.
Patty was a hard worker with a great work ethic which she got from her mom and dad. Her dad got a kick out of working with her because she was more of a perfectionist than he was. The stereo cabinet she designed and built with her dad was flawless and is still in her home today. She also helped her brother Mick replace his barn roof, helped her nephew Brian build his Eagle Scout project, went to Ireland on a missionary construction project, and remodeled her “hippy shack” with her son Michael and brother Dave.
Patty was a true country girl. Both of her girls were born at home. She lived on 18 acres in the foothills of San Jose for many years where she kept many farm animals including sheep, goats, chickens, pigs, and horses. She was also known to shoot and butcher a pig if the opportunity presented itself.
Friends and family remember how much Patty loved to laugh, which she did often and loud. Her niece Cyndi can do a wonderful impression of Patty’s laugh. She loved her family and friends, was very generous, and helped others as she saw a need.
Patty loved her God and was devoted to him. She faithfully attended church, read her Bible daily and memorized many scripture verses.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 11:00 am, at Buhl Bible Church, 1004 Burley Avenue, Buhl, Idaho 83316
