
The Reading-Berks Association of Realtors-RBAR) will present its 6th snnual 5K Run for Shelter on Oct. 4 at Gring’s Mill Recreation Area in Spring Township.
This community event raises funds to benefit Habitat for Humanity of Berks County and Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Berks Inc. (NHS) — two nonprofits committed to building stronger neighborhoods and creating housing opportunities in our region.
Whether you’re a seasoned runner or a casual walker, the flat, fast course along the Union Canal Trail offers something for everyone. This professionally timed, rain-or-shine race, hosted in partnership with Pretzel City Sports, draws participants of all ages and abilities who are eager to support a cause that makes a tangible difference.
Why join the fun?
• Run or walk with purpose: Every registration helps fund closing cost assistance and affordable housing solutions right here in Berks County.
• Scenic course: Take in the natural beauty of the Tulpehocken Creek as you make your way to the turnaround at Stonecliffe Recreation Area.
• Compete and win: Awards for top finishers overall and in age divisions, from under 14 to 70+.
• All are welcome: Bring the whole family! The event is welcoming, inclusive, and all about community spirit.
Event schedule:
• Registration opens: 8 a.m.
• Race begins: 9 a.m.
• Awards ceremony: 10 a.m.
Early bird perks:
Sign up by Sept. 1 to lock in the $20 early bird rate and guarantee your race T-shirt. After that, the fee is $25 (while shirts last).
Participants also enjoy refreshments, music and free parking.
