A member of Frankfort’s Plan Comission/Zoning Board of Appeals, has been appointed as village clerk, filling a vacancy created after the spring election, village officials announced.

The appointment of Eugene Savaria as clerk was approved by the Village Board at its June 17 meeting, according to the village.

The vacancy opened up after Adam Borrelli, who had been village clerk, ran successfully for one of three trustee seats in the April 2 election. He had been appointed clerk in 2015 and was elected to a full term in 2017.

Savaria’s term would run to the spring 2021 election.

A member of the Plan Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals since 2017, Savaria is a U.S. Air Force veteran and works in global risk oversight for Bank of America, according to the village.

His appointment as clerk creates a vacancy on the Plan Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals.

The village is accepting applications until July 5 for those interested in serving on the panel. Applications are available at the Village Administration office, 432 W. Nebraska, or downloaded at the village’s website, www.villageoffrankfort.com.
