It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John David Murdock. He died peacefully on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at 12:20 p.m., atthe age of80, in San Leandro, CA.

John was the son of the late Robert and Alice Murdock and was born in Palo Alto, CA on October 24, 1944. He graduated from Pioneer High School, served proudly in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam.

After the war, John worked at General Electric, Western Electric, Pacific Bell and finally ended his career after retiring from AT&T.

John was known for his quit wit and sense of humor, his infectious laughter and unwavering kindness and willingness to help others. He taught his children the importance of hard work, honesty and perseverance. He absolutely loved playing golf and throwing the frisbee with his brother Frank.

He was also an avid fan of the San Francisco 49ers, the San Francisco Giants, and loved watching sports on TV —especially golf and basketball.

John was a loving and devoted father to Thomas Robert Murdock (deceased) and Matthew Garrett Murdock of San Jose, CA.

He is survived by Matthew Murdock (son), Frank Murdock (brother) and Bruce Murdock (brother).

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him
