Police seek help finding person whose dog killed another dog
Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man whose dog attacked and seriously injured another dog around 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
A man was walking his 15-year-old toy poodle, Amanda, on the Goose Creek Trail behind Unity Church near Folsom Street and Edgewood Drive when the poodle was attacked by another dog, according to a Boulder police Facebook post. The toy poodle died from her injuries on Monday.
The owner of the attacking dog ran away. The dog was described as a large tan poodle-type dog. and the owner was described as a middle-aged, white man with longer dirty blonde hair, according to the post.
Police ask that anyone with information contact Boulder police animal protection at 303-441-1874.
CU Boulder to spend $8.3M on UMC upgrades
The University Memorial Center, a gathering place in the heart of the University of Colorado Boulder campus, will soon receive $8.3 million in HVAC and mechanical system upgrades.
The CU Board of Regents approved the upgrades at its regular meeting on Thursday.
The UMC was originally built in 1953 and added 51,000 square feet and a five-story atrium in 2000. Construction is expected to start in January 2026 and conclude in July 2026.
Workers are expected to build 24 pickleball courts
Workers in the Boulder Parks and Recreation Department are expected to build as many as 24 new pickleball courts along with other courts and park upgrades in 2025, according to a city press release.
City workers are expected to build up to 12 pickleball courts on the site of former tennis courts at East Boulder Community Park, 5660 Sioux Drive, and to build a new dedicated tennis area with eight tennis courts, according to the release. In addition, the city plans to partner with the University of Colorado Athletic Department to build an indoor facility with four to six courts on city-owned property next to the East Boulder Community Park, according to the release.
At the same time, city workers are expected to build 12 new pickleball courts at Tom Watson Park, 6180 N. 63rd St. Four existing tennis courts at the park will remain.
Other site improvements at the park include new restrooms, a shade shelter, a food court, parking lot resurfacing and an updated play area, according to the release.
