JoAnne Winget Dlott

JoAnne was born in Salt Lake City, the first of 7 children, and lived in Ogden, San Francisco, and Rancho Palos Verdes before settling in Aptos and La Selva Beach, California.

JoAnne was preceded in death by parents Frank and Florence Winget of Salt Lake City, sister Judith Anderson, formerly Keyser, nee Winget, of Akron Ohio, and husband Arthur Dlott of La Selva Beach. She is survived by sons Dr. Richard Dlott (Bonnie Dlott), Dr. Jeffery Dlott (Besem Obenson), and Franklin Dlott; grandchildren Dr. Glade Bogar, nee Dlott (Dr. Laura Bogar), Rachel Dlott (Shea Dlott), Haven Dlott, Dr. Chloe Dlott, Phoebe Dlott, and Kamalu Dlott; great grandchildren Ursula Bogar and Peregrin Dlott; brothers Doug Winget (Bella), Dr. Gary Wingate (Sue) and sister Coleen Wood (Jim), as well as many nieces and nephews.

JoAnne attended the University of Washington, joining the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, and earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Industrial Relations. After moving to La Selva Beach, she earned a Master of Human Resource Management at Chapman College in Monterey.

JoAnne touched thousands of lives through her human resources work at Salz Leather, Santa Cruz County and the Seaside Company which operates the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. She guided, supported and mentored many people throughout her professional career.

JoAnne was admired for her incredibly strong work ethic and astounding commitment to education and to the arts. She and her husband enjoyed attending ACT, Shakespeare Santa Cruz, the Monterey Jazz Festival and Kuumbwa Jazz. She volunteered for many organizations, including Workforce Santa Cruz County, OLLI, and Hospice of Santa Cruz, to name a few. As she neared retirement, she and Art enjoyed extensive domestic and world-wide travel solo and with dear friends Andre and Jean Johnson and Bill and Connie Beck.

An informal celebration of life will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Santa Cruz County, 6401 Freedom Blvd, in Aptos on November 9th, at 1 pm.
