Assault with a Deadly Weapon: On Oct. 3 at around 11:26 p.m., the Woodland Police Department responded to reports of an argument at City Park last night around 11:26 pm. As officers were en route, they received an update that a 26-year-old man had been stabbed. After conducting interviews, officers determined that the suspect and victim knew each other. A physical altercation escalated between the two and ended with the stabbing.

The victim suffered injuries requiring medical attention but is currently in stable condition. This is an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the public. The suspect, 21-year-old Woodland resident Andrew Gaines, has been arrested and booked into Yolo County Jail on charges of Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Illegal Possession of a Firearm: On Oct. 4 at around 7:20 p.m., an officer made an enforcement stop near East Street and Gibson Road for a vehicle code violation. The driver was identified as Francisco Perez-Zapien, a 39-year-old Woodland resident. Officers observed drug paraphernalia in plain view from the exterior of the vehicle. K-9 Ricky arrived on the scene and alerted to the presence of a target odor inside the car. Perez-Zapien had a loaded .22 caliber handgun in his pocket. He also had a useable quantity of methamphetamine and two glass pipes commonly used to consume methamphetamine.

Perez-Zapien was arrested for carrying an unregistered firearm, carrying a loaded concealed handgun, possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Yolo County Jail.

Vehicle Tampering >> On Oct. 6 at 5:05 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of East Main Street regarding a suspicious subject. The reporting person reported seeing two subjects checking door handles on vehicles parked within the parking lot. The subjects were last seen heading toward Armfield Avenue. One subject was on foot, and the other was on a bicycle.

Officers arrived in the area and located a subject matching the description given by dispatch, riding a bicycle on Armfield Avenue and A Street. The subject was identified as Robert Ragan, a 23-year-old resident of Placerville. Ragan was also identified as being on searchable probation. Officers located the second subject behind a business in the area. The subject was identified as Sean Duff, a 40-year-old Woodland resident. A records check revealed Duffy had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

A search of Ragan was conducted and officers located burglary tools. A search of Duffy also revealed burglary tools. Duffy was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Duffy and Ragan were positively identified as the suspects by the witnesses. Duffy and Ragan were arrested and transported to the Yolo County Jail. Duffy was booked for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance, possession of burglary tools, vehicle tampering and conspiracy. Ragan was booked for possession of burglary tools, vehicle tampering, conspiracy and violation of probation.
