Jalen Suggs scored nine of his 26 points in the final two minutes, and the Orlando Magic rallied from a 16-point deficit in the second half to beat the Golden State Warriors 130-129 on Thursday night, handing the defending NBA champions their fourth consecutive loss.
Stephen Curry had 39 points and nine assists for the Warriors. He shot 8 of 15 from deep. Klay Thompson added 27 points, but missed a jumper at the buzzer.
Rookie Paolo Banchero had 22 points and eight rebounds for the Magic, who shot 53.8% from the field and won for only the second time this season. Franz Wagner finished with 19 points and Chuma Okeke came off the bench for 16.
The Warriors (3-6) are now 0-5 on the road.
They led 73-57 after a couple of 3-pointers by Thompson midway through the third quarter. Wagner answered with a 3-pointer and Banchero scored 12 points in the remainder of the period to help Orlando reduce the lead to 98-96 entering the fourth quarter.
A 3-pointer by R.J. Hampton put the Magic up 113-104 with 7:20 remaining, but Curry scored seven consecutive points to get the Warriors back in it.
The Warriors next play at New Orleans today.
NUGGETS 122, THUNDER 110 >> Aaron Gordon scored 27 points and Nikola Jokic had a triple-double for the Nuggets. Jokic, the two-time reigning league MVP, had 15 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists. It was his third triple-double this season and the 79th of his career.
Jamal Murray added 24 points for the Nuggets, who were coming off a loss to the Lakers on Sunday.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 37 points and Lu Dort added 19 for the Thunder, who had won four straight.
Denver scored the game’s first 13 points as the Thunder missed their first six shots. The Nuggets led 71-57 at halftime behind 23 points from Gordon. Jokic scored just two points in the first half, but he also had nine rebounds and eight assists.
Gordon’s follow dunk over Oklahoma City’s Darius Bazley gave Denver a 75-65 lead, but the Thunder were undeterred. Aleksej Pokusevski’s layup finally gave Oklahoma City a 93-91 lead. The Thunder led 95-93 heading into the fourth.
The Nuggets took control in the final period by holding the Thunder to 7-for-22 shooting.
Gilgeous-Alexander, who entered the night fourth in the league with 31.5 points per game, scored just four points in the fourth.
