When and where: Tuesday, 6 p.m., at Centaurus High School’s Spangenberg Field.

The scouting report: Nothing has been able to stop Boulder or Centaurus soccer. The two teams will charge toward each other like a battering ram to see who will leave the first mark on Tuesday night.

To date, both squads have enjoyed 3-0 records. Centaurus sits atop Class 4A in CHSAA’s Selection & Seeding Index, while Boulder trails behind Broomfield at No. 2 in the 5A rankings. The Panthers and Warriors have experienced wildly different outcomes so far this season.

The Panthers have recorded two 3-1 victories at the expense of Heritage and Ralston Valley but completely flattened Legacy in a 9-0 showing that saw Logan Coughlin, Grant Sims and Mikel Mackey net two goals apiece.

No player, however, has been as proficient as senior David Bojorquez (four goals), who transferred from Estes Park after netting 65 goals through his first three years with the Bobcats. Mackey, a junior, has had his hand in three goals and three assists through the short season. Senior keeper Aden Heath has been nearly lights-out in the goal box, stopping 11 of 13 shots.

The Warriors, on the other hand, have focused more on the defensive side of the game, scoring eight goals to date with victories over Cheyenne Mountain (2-0), Lewis-Palmer (4-0) and defending state champion Battle Mountain (2-0).

Six players have put leather to nylon, as seniors Iain Dunham and Chris Robles lead the way with two goals apiece. Junior keeper Nicholas Jones has been a brick wall in the net, letting nothing pass him and making 17 saves in the process.

By Tuesday night, a perfect record will fall, and fans will get to witness the kind of elite soccer in Boulder County that they’ve become accustomed to over the past few years.
