The Valparaiso Family YMCA will begin a phased reopening Tuesday under the guidance of state and local health authorities. The first phase will include programs for youth. Library offers curbside services
The East Chicago Public Library is now offering curbside delivery services of books, movies and magazines for patrons. Home delivery services will be available to residents with disabilities and seniors 65 and older starting Tuesday. The main library, 2401 E. Columbus Drive, and the Robert A. Pastrick Branch, 1008 W. CHS seniors named National Merit Scholars
Three Chesterton High School seniors have been named National Merit Scholars by the National Merit Scholarship Corp. Gavin K Dooley of Westville received a National Merit $2500 Scholarship. His award is supported by National Merit Scholarship Corp.’s own funds. Dooley plans to study mathematics at University of Notre Dame. Gabriel P. Kroeger of Chesterton received a National Merit $2500 Scholarship underwritten by Occidental Petroleum Corp. Kroeger plans to study computer science at the University of Alabama. Aidan S. Li of Chesterton received a National Merit $2500 Scholarship. His award is supported by National Merit Scholarship Corp.’s own funds. Li plans to study software engineering at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

to assist local COVID-19 work
Horizon Bank has donated $14,000 to the United Ways of Lake and Porter counties to bolster their network of social services to alleviate COVID-19 economic pressures on Northwest Indiana households.
