An air pollution action day is in effect for the greater Chicago Metropolitan Area until midnight Friday. The temperature reached 90 degrees Thursday at O’Hare for the fifth time in 2020. A high in the low 90s is expected Friday and Saturday. While the humidity will be somewhat comfortable Friday, it will be on the increase for Father’s Day weekend. Daytime hours should remain dry Friday with a chance for a Friday night shower or thunderstorm. Showers and thunderstorms become more likely by Saturday afternoon. While scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible for Father’s Day, there should be many dry hours allowing for outdoor activities.

The temperature will approach 90 again Monday with thunderstorms possible before a cooldown to temperatures closer to normal by Tuesday.
