Top prospect Roman Anthony hit his first major league home run and Lucas Giolito struck out 10 in six innings as visiting Boston beat the Seattle Mariners 2-0 on Monday night in the Red Sox’s first game since trading three-time All-Star Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants a day earlier.

The Red Sox have now won six straight games.

Anthony gave Boston an early advantage during his seventh major league game, turning on a slider from Mariners starter Logan Gilbert — who was making his first appearance since coming off the injured list — for a solo shot in the first. It was Anthony’s second career hit after being promoted to the big leagues June 9.

The Red Sox pushed across another run against Gilbert (1-2) in the third. Jarren Duran smacked a two-out triple and scored on a single from Abraham Toro. Gilbert was otherwise sensational, striking out 10 across five innings while yielding just three hits.

The Mariners, meanwhile, struggled to do anything against Giolito (3-1), who walked one and gave up all three of his hits in the third.

Justin Wilson, Greg Weissert and Aroldis Chapman finished the four-hitter. Chapman fanned all three batters in the ninth for his 13th save.

Phillies 5, Marlins 2: Trea Turner hit a leadoff homer and added two singles as Philadelphia extended its winning streak to five games with a victory at Miami.

Max Kepler also went deep and Alec Bohm had two hits and two RBIs for the Phillies.

Rookie Mick Abel (2-0) threw five innings of one-run ball in his fourth major league start. The 23-year-old right-hander scattered three hits and struck out three. Orion Kerkering closed with a perfect ninth for his first career save.

Kepler snapped a 1-all tie with a solo blast in the fourth. He drove a slider from Miami starter Sandy Alcántara into the seats in right field for his ninth of the season.

Turner’s RBI single in the seventh made it 3-1 before Miami narrowed the deficit on a sacrifice fly by Agustín Ramírez in the eighth inning.

Philadelphia padded its lead in the ninth on Bohm’s two-run single.

Alcántara (3-8) allowed two runs and five hits in five innings. The 2022 NL Cy Young Award winner struck out five, moving past Josh Johnson for second on the Marlins’ career strikeout list with 834.

Turner hit the second pitch of the game over the wall in center. It was Turner’s 18th career leadoff homer and second this season.

Marlins center fielder Dane Myers exited in the third inning after he was drilled in the left elbow by a 95-mph fastball from Abel in the second.

Rays 7, Orioles 1: Ryan Pepiot had a season-high 11 strikeouts over eight innings, Jake Mangum went 3 for 4 with three RBIs and Tampa Bay won at home over Baltimore.

Pepiot (4-6) allowed four hits and one earned run in a 98-pitch effort.

The Rays have won four straight and gone 19-6 in their last 25 games.

Tampa Bay scored a run in each of the first five innings, including Josh Lowe’s first career leadoff home run.

Brandon Lowe’s two-run shot in the fourth — his 14th homer of the season — gave the Rays a 5-1 lead.

Orioles starter Zach Eflin (6-3) gave up 12 hits and seven earned runs in five innings.

Rockies 6, Nationals 4: Hunter Goodman homered twice, including a tying shot in the ninth inning, and then Mickey Moniak connected for a two-run drive that gave visiting Colorado a win over skidding Washington.

Colorado entered with 57 losses this season, tied with the 1932 Boston Red Sox for the most in the modern era (since 1901) through 71 games.

Both the Rockies and Red Sox won their 72nd game.

Washington has lost nine in a row.

Goodman tied it 4-all with a solo shot to left-center — his 13th homer of the season to lead National League catchers.

Moniak, who tripled in the fifth and scored on Michael Toglia’s single for a 3-1 lead, sent a two-run homer into the bullpen in right field.

Kyle Finnegan (0-2) was handed his fifth blown save of the season.

Thirteen of Colorado’s last 20 games have been decided by two or fewer runs, with the Rockies going 6-14 during that span.

Athletics 3, Astros 1: Rookie Nick Kurtz hit a two-run homer off Bryan Abreu in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Athletics over Houston.
