Two-time All-Pro Micah Parsons and fellow pass rusher DeMarcus Lawrence could miss multiple games for the Dallas Cowboys after getting hurt in a victory over the New York Giants, two people with knowledge of the injuries said Friday.

Parsons has a high ankle sprain and Lawrence a foot sprain, the people told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because details of the injuries weren’t being released.

One of the people said Parsons was considered week to week while Lawrence probably would be out longer but was still being evaluated.

Coach Mike McCarthy declined to get into specifics of either injury but said Lawrence’s situation was worse than that of Parsons. McCarthy said he expected both to play again this season.

“I don’t have a specific timeline, but we’ll get into that probably a little deeper Monday,” McCarthy said. “I do know there will be second opinions involved in both of these guys. They are worse than we anticipated.”

Parsons was injured in the fourth quarter of Dallas’ 20-15 win when he said someone fell on his left leg as he was planting it. Lawrence left the game in the third quarter and had the foot taped but didn’t return.

The Cowboys (2-2) next play Oct. 6 at Pittsburgh before a home game against Detroit on Oct. 13, followed by their open week. Missing both games would give the players a month of recovery time.

Samuel, Williams questionable for 49ers

Samuel and Trent Williams are both questionable for the 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers got mixed injury news on Friday, with star receiver Deebo Samuel practicing for a second straight day and All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams sitting out with a sore toe.

Samuel had been expected to miss “a couple” of games after injuring his calf in a Week 2 loss at Minnesota but made it back to practice on a limited basis this week and was listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots.

Williams missed practice Friday after reporting that his toe was sore following the previous day’s practice and was also questionable for Sunday.

“It acted up a little bit in practice yesterday and it was just too sore for him to go today,” coach Kyle Shanahan said.

Tight end George Kittle had no injury designation for the game after missing last week’s game against the Rams with a hamstring injury.

Shanahan also said that All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey returned from Germany, where he went for treatment for the Achilles tendinitis that led to him being placed on injured reserve two weeks ago.

McCaffrey will have to miss at least least two more games before he will be able to return to practice but Shanahan said he expected his rehab to ramp up beginning next week.

There were two other injuries from Thursday’s practice with safety Talanoa Hufanga rolling his ankle and linebacker Curtis Robinson tearing his ACL. Hufanga will be listed as questionable this week and Robinson is out for the rest of the season.

Raiders’ Crosby, Adams will miss Browns game

Maxx Crosby and Davante Adams, who each have multiple All-Pro selections, will not play for the Raiders when they host the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, dealing Las Vegas a potentially devastating setback.

Tight end Michael Mayer also will not play because of personal reasons. Right tackle Thayer Munford Jr. (knee/ankle) and linebacker Divine Deablo (oblique) haven’t practiced this week and also will be sidelined.

Crosby suffered a high ankle sprain two weeks ago at Baltimore and was noticeably limited when playing Sunday against the Panthers. This will be the first game Crosby, who often plays hurt and is one of the NFL’s elite pass rushers, will have missed in his six-year career. It’s also the first start he won’t make since his rookie season in 2019.

The Raiders already were thin at defensive end with Malcolm Koonce out for the season with a torn ACL. Charles Snowden, Tyree Wilson and Janarius Robinson have received additional playing time and now will be counted on even more.

Browns will be without both starting tackles

Jedrick Wills Jr. injured his right knee last week while making his season debut following surgery in December.

Wills will sit out along with tackle Jack Conklin and tight end David Njoku, who were all ruled out Friday before practice by coach Kevin Stefanski. Running back Pierre Strong Jr. (hamstring) will also miss the game.

With Wills out, Stefanski will again be forced to play at least one backup and maybe more. It was a similar situation last week, when the Browns (1-2) lost three offensive linemen to injuries in a 21-15 loss to the New York Giants.

Cleveland’s had major protection problems up front as Deshaun Watson was sacked eight times last week and has been dropped a league-high 16 times in three games.

Another positive for the Browns is that Myles Garrett practiced for the second straight day while dealing with injuries to both feet, an Achilles tendon and thigh. The NFL’s reigning Defensive Player of the Year said Thursday that he’s not 100% but “good enough” to play.

Briefly

Giants >> Rookie receiver Malik Nabers left Thursday night’s 20-15 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in the final minutes after sustaining a concussion. Coach Brian Daboll said Nabers was at the Giants headquarters on Friday and was in the concussion protocol. That means he cannot practice until he is cleared by New York’s medical personnel and an independent neurological consultant. He was in team meetings as the Giants went over the Dallas film. Nabers and the Giants will have more than a week to get ready to face the Seahawks (3-0) in Seattle on Oct. 6. Seattle plays at Detroit on Sunday.

Jaguars >> Coach Doug Pederson all but ruled out Pro Bowl tight end Evan Engram for Jacksonville’s game at Houston on Sunday.

NFL >> Dallas’ 20-15 victory over the New York Giants on Thursday night averaged 16.22 million viewers, according to Nielsen, making it the most-streamed NFL regular-season game in history and Amazon Prime Video’s most-watched game since exclusively taking over the prime-time package in 2022.
