Watsonville High’s girls soccer team received goals from three players and beat host Monte Vista Christian 3-0 in nonleague action on Friday.

Alexa Molina scored 28 minutes into the first half, and Yamilet Maduno and Jackeline Cano scored in the second half

The Wildcatz (2-1-2) play at Pajaro Valley on Saturday at noon

MVC plays host Pacific Collegiate on Jan. 6 at 5:45 p.m.

At Soquel 6, Liberty (Madera) 0 >> Isis Tumanson had a goal and three assists in the Knights’ nonleague win Friday.

Arden Salles, Caitlin Curly, Lani Gilbert,Kaitlyn Gray, and Alyce Javier also scored for Soquel (4-1-1), which outshot Liberty 16-2. Alexis Sierra and Trinity Wilson recorded assists.

Goalkeeper Bethany Mansfield recorded the shutout for the Knights, who host Monterey (2-1-0) on Jan. 4 at 6 p.m.

At Sobrato 4, Harbor 1 >> The Pirates’ Ava Bibighaus scored on a pass from Ximenia Madrigal to knot the score at 1-all in the 35th minute, but the Bulldogs scored three unanswered goals in the second half in their nonleague win Friday.

Goalie Cecille Novembre made 10 saves for the Pirates (0-6-0), who play Archbishop Riordan (2-2-0) in San Francisco on Jan. 4 at 11 a.m.

Boys basketball

Aptos 50, at Carmel 47 >> Isaiah Ackerman had 19 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and three steals, and the Mariners knocked off the defending Central Coast Section Division IV champion Padres in the 76th annual Carmel Classic semifinals on Friday.

Aptos led 34-23 at the half and 38-35 heading into the fourth quarter.

Diego Mejia made his third 3-pointer with under a minute left to put Aptos up by four points, and the Mariners hung on.

Nick Tovani, who came back in the middle of the third quarter after he was elbowed and received stitches, finished with seven points in the fourth quarter and 11 points total. Diego Mejia also scored 11 and had five rebounds.

Aptos (6-2) plays Bellarmine (5-0) in the championship on Saturday at 5 p.m.

Scotts Valley 84, Alvarez 52 >> Will Shilling scored 17 points and was one of six Falcons with double digits in scoring as Scotts Valley advanced from the consolation semifinals at 76th annual Carmel Classic on Friday.

Taylor Knox scored 14 points, Zach Shilling and Jacob Sanders each scored 12 points, and Alex Burgos chipped in with 10 points as the Falcons produced a season-high output on offense.

Scotts Valley (4-5) faces Monterey (3-2) in the consolation championship on Saturday.

At MVC 65, St. Francis 61 >> Nico Downie scored a team-high 22 points to lead the Mustangs to the nonleague win Friday.

Matteo Vidal scored 12 points for MVC (6-3), and Ethan Quizon and Braden Dobler each scored eight points.

Nash Horton made three 3s and scored 24 points before fouling out for the Sharks (6-2). Robert Gomez made four 3s and scored 20 points and Jacob Jimenez scored 12 points.

St. Francis hosts Scotts Valley (4-5) on Friday at 7 p.m.

MVC plays Rancho San Juan (4-2) on Jan. 9 at 7 p.m.

At Pacific Grove 59, Soquel 45 >> Point guard Peyton Bortz scored a team-high 10 points in the Knights’ nonleague loss Friday.

Soquel led 39-38 entering the fourth quarter. The Breakers made three 3-pointers in the fourth.

Junior Gabriel Valencia scored 23 points for the Breakers (4-2), and sophomore Andrew Nimri scored 21 points.

Guard Nico Ramirez didn’t play for the Knights (4-5), who face Los Gatos (6-1) in the first round of the 11th annual Aptos High/Santa Cruz Warriors Tournament at KP Arena in Santa Cruz on Thursday at 11 a.m.

Mountain View 70, at Santa Cruz 56 >> The Cardinals were outscored 21-12 in the second quarter and trailed 31-20 at the half in their nonleague loss Friday.

Santa Cruz (3-5) faces Pinole Valley (2-4) in the Damian Lillard Classic at Oakland High on Thursday at 4:55 p.m.

Westmont 81, at San Lorenzo Valley 31 >> Noah Steiger scored 17 points in the Cougars’ nonleague loss Friday.

Seth Reese scored 15 points for the Warriors (7-1). Jacob Froman scored 12 points and Gabe Mathiesen scored 11 points.

SLV (4-5) plays at Gilroy (2-8) on Saturday at 2 p.m.

NBA G League

Delaware 128, Santa Cruz 106 >> Forward Kevin Knox II posted his third double-double, but the Warriors lost to the Blue Coats in their Winter Showcase opener at the Orange County Convention Center in Florida on Friday night.

Knox finished with 32 points and 10 rebounds for the Warriors (6-9). Two-way guard Pat Spencer contributed 16 points, nine rebounds, and six assists in his second game of the season with Santa Cruz, and forward Jackson Rowe added 11 points and seven rebounds. Two-way center Quinten Post rounded out the offense with 10 points and 10 rebounds to secure his fourth double-double in 10 games with the Sea Dubs.

Forward Jordan Tucker came off the bench to lead the Blue Coats (8-7) with 25 points, and forward Justin Edwards followed closely behind with 20 points. Forward Isaiah Mobley (16 points, 11 rebounds) and guard Jarron Cumberland (14 points, 10 rebounds) recorded double-doubles for Delaware, and guards Patrick McCaw and Judah Mintz logged 14 points apiece.

The Warriors face the Windy City Bulls (5-10) in Florida on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Boys soccer

Watsonville 2, North Monterey County 1 >> Anthony Guido and Damian Mora scored goals, and the Wildcatz picked up their first nonleague win Friday.

Jose Ortiz assisted on Mora’s goal.

Goalie Adrian Fernandez made five saves for the Wildcatz (1-1-4), who play at Archbishop Mitty (2-0-2) in San Jose on Jan. 4 at 10 a.m.

Edison (Fresno) 3, Pajaro Valley 1 >> Mario Rocha scored on a pass from Jesus Ortiz against the No. 7 state-ranked Tigers (12-1-1), but the Grizzlies lost their nonleague match on Friday.

Goalie Iker Zaragoza made four saves for the Grizzlies (0-5-2), who host Ceiba on Jan. 3 at 3:30 p.m.

Girls basketball

Aptos 56, at Mt. Pleasant 21 >> The Mariners opened the first quarter with 17 unanswered points and rolled to their largest margin of victory this season on Friday.

Senior guard Berkeley Ashby had 16 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals for Aptos (7-1). Sophomore Eliya Chavez scored 13 points, and junior forward Abby Sherwood had seven points and 12 rebounds.

Aptos faces Half Moon Bay (6-1) to open play in the Aptos/Santa Cruz Warriors NorCal Tournament at KP Arena on Thursday at 8 p.m.

At Stevenson 46, Soquel 41 >> Ana Maurer scored 15 points and Neely Pfeiffer added 10 points in the Knights’ nonleague loss Friday.

Maria Hall and Kobie Cruthcer each had 10 points and four steals for the Pirates (7-1).

Soquel (2-4) plays at Westmont (4-2) in Campbell on Jan. 7 at 7 p.m.

The King’s Academy 55, at MVC 28 >> Senior Sophia Cortes scored a team-high 17 points in the Mustangs’ nonleague loss Friday.

The Mustangs kept the game close in the first half, but TKA shot the ball well from behind the arc.

Sophomore Emily Madison scored six points for MVC, and senior Amya Tellez chipped in with five points.

MVC (3-6) faces Soledad (5-1) in the first round of the Lady Shark Shootout at St. Francis High in Watsonville on Friday at 6 p.m.

Men’s basketball

Chabot 84, Cabrillo 82 >> Marcellus Edwards produced the game winning basket on a layup with 5 seconds left to sink the Seahawks in the teams’ opener at the Andre Gaines Classic at Gavilan College on Friday.

Freshman guard Walzel Evans made three 3s and scored 22 points for the Seahawks (7-6), who have suffered three straight losses. Freshman forward Dai’shaun Buie made seven free throws and scored 17 points. Sophomore guard Max Parmigiani scored 12 points, and sophomore guard Zavier Sims scored 10 points.

Edwards finished with 22 points for the Gladiators (9-3). Zion Yeargin had 15 points and 15 rebounds. Aaiden Burris came off the bench and scored 12 points, and fellow reserve Christian Wilson had nine points and 11 rebounds.

Cabrillo faces Feather River (11-4) at Gavilan on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Women’s basketball

Cabrillo 65, at Redwoods 61, OT >> Sophomore forward Renee Parker scored five of her 18 points in overtime, and the Seahawks won with assistant Gus Indarose filling in as head coach on Friday.

Head coach Tony Marcopulos was forced to sit out after receiving to technical fouls in the Seahawks’ game on Wednesday.

Freshman guard Sydney Chesnut made five 3-pointers and scored 20 points for Cabrillo (10-4). Sophomore guard Jade Crum scored four points in OT and finished with 13 points.

Freshman guard Moriah Bowles made three 3s in the second half and finished with a team-high 17 points for the Corsairs (5-8). Guard Caidence Young made two of her four 3-pointers in OT and finished with 16 points.

Cabrillo hosts Bakersfield (4-8) on Dec. 28 at 5 p.m.

At George Fox 47, UC Santa Cruz 45 >> Emilie Ngo had 18 points and 10 rebounds in the Banana Slugs’ narrow loss In Newberg, Oregon, on Friday.

Jenna Gorton had 11 points and seven rebounds for UCSC (4-10), which Jenna its opponent 36-24.

Tara Ushiro made a pair of free throws with 16 second left to seal the win for the Bruins (8-1). Teammate Mia Skoro scored a team-high 12 points, and Ushiro finished with five points.

UCSC plays at Lewis & Clark (1-7) in Portland, Oregon, on Saturday.
