Raya Leikin scored her second goal late in regulation to give the Marin Academy girls soccer team a lifeline then got her hat trick in extra time to send the Wildcats to a wild 5-4 victory in the North Coast Section Division II quarterfinals on Friday.

The top-seeded Wildcats (19-2-1) are set to host No. 4 Urban (17-5-0) at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the semifinals. Urban defeated No. 12 Terra Linda in the other quarterfinal on Friday.

MA defeated Urban by scores of 4-1 and 3-1 in Bay Counties League West play but lost to the Blues 3-2 in the league championship game a week ago.

Leikin scored in the 35th, 79th, and 81st minutes as MA rallied from a 4-2 deficit inside the final 10 minutes. Sadie Goodenough and Reese Goodenough had the other goals for the Wildcats.

• Rashell Diaz and Josie Quinby scored to give Terra Linda a one-goal lead early in the second half but Urban scored twice in the last five minutes to secure a 4-2 victory in the D-II quarterfinals. Diaz put TL (10-7-3) ahead 1-0 in the 17th minute on a penalty kick. Quinby made the score 2-1 in the 50th minute. Urban tied the game with a penalty kick in the 60th minute then got the winning goal in the 76th.

Girls basketball

Maya Saibel scored a game-high 23 points and Kitty White finished with 19 points in front of a boisterous home crowd as sixth-seeded Redwood beat No. 14 Montgomery, 63-42, in Friday’s North Coast Section Division I quarterfinal match.

The Giants led 31-27 at halftime before stepping on the gas pedal. The Giants will face either No. 2 Bishop O’Dowd or No. 10 Alameda in Tuesday’s semifinals.

• The fourth-seeded Branson School fell to No. 5 Dougherty Valley, 44-35, in Friday’s NCS D-III quarterfinals during a hard-fought contest. The game was tied 19-19 at halftime and the Bulls (16-13) kept the score close throughout the second half.

• San Domenico’s season ended with a 58-40 road loss to St. Bernard’s in a NCS D-III quarterfinal matchup Friday. The No. 8 Panthers (14-15) fell behind early and trailed by 14 points at halftime against the top-seeded Crusaders.

Boys basketball

TT Carr gave Redwood high a huge second-half push Friday as the second-seeded Giants advanced to the NCS D-I semifinals with a 62-52 home victory over No. 7 Acalanes. The Giants (22-6) will face the winner of the quarterfinal matchup between No. 6 Amador Valley and No. 14 Northgate on Tuesday.

• Fifth-seeded San Rafael beat upset-minded Mt. Eden, 60-50, in Friday’s NCS-DIII quarterfinals at Terra Linda High. Mt. Eden stunned No. 4 Cornerstone Christian (17-10) in Tuesday’s opener. The Bulldogs (19-9) advance to Tuesday’s semifinals for a possible matchup with top-seeded Branson, which beat Livermore, 60-52, in the other half of the bracket.

Prep baseball

Novato opened its season Friday with a 6-0 victory over Rancho Cotate. JP Harmon got the win with six strikeouts over three innings. Cohen Garcia had a solid day on the base paths, with a triple, an RBI and three runs,

College baseball

Former Redwood High standout Danil Wells scored on a walk-off base hit by Derek Bartram as College of Marin edged Diablo Valley 11-10 at home on Friday.

The Vikings scored in the top of the ninth to take a one-run lead, before Mariners pinch hitter Kisho Li Kircher drove in Dorian Foster for the tying run in the bottom of the ninth.

Reliever Samuel Schnitzer went 1.2 innings, allowing a run and two hits, to get the win. The Mariners (6-7-1) are scheduled to play at Skyline on Saturday.

Fundraiser

Registration is open for the 36th annual Marin Athletic Fund golf tournament. The event is scheduled for Monday, April 21, at Indian Valley Golf Club, with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start.
