ALLEN PARK >> Some won’t pay much attention to UDFA signings, but recent history of the Detroit Lions shows doing so would be a mistake.

Since general manager Brad Holmes and head coach Dan Campbell were hired in 2021, seven UDFAs have made Detroit’s Week 1 roster, including at least one each year. In 2024, it was long snapper Hogan Hatten, safety Loren Strickland and wide receiver Isaiah Williams.

Here’s a running list of the UDFAs who have signed with the Lions so far:

Keith Cooper Jr., DL, Houston

Cooper (6-5, 280 pounds) is signing with the Lions, per KPRC 2 Houston. He registered 46 tackles (nine for loss) and 3½ sacks last season.

Leif Fautanu, OL, Arizona State

Fautanu (6-2, 315 pounds) is signing with the Lions, per Arizona State. A center with more than 3,500 snaps of experience, Fautanu has been at ASU since 2023. Before that, he was at UNLV from 2019-22.

Gavin Holmes, CB, Texas

Holmes (5-11, 185 pounds) is signing with the Lions, per himself. He played three seasons at Wake Forest (2020-22) and two at Texas (2023-24), where he allowed 133 yards on 11 catches (23 targets) for a passer rating against of 66.0, per PFF.

Jakobie Keeney-James, WR, UMass

Keeney-James (6-1, 195 pounds) is signing with the Lions, per himself. He was at Eastern Washington for five seasons before he transferred to UMass, where he collected 839 yards and six touchdowns in 2024.

Ian Kennelly, DB, Grand Valley State

Kennelly (6-2, 205 pounds) is signing with the Lions, per Grand Valley State.

He played four seasons with the Lakers, and he received All-GLIAC honors in 2024 as a member of the first team. Kennelly recorded 19 pass deflections and eight interceptions in his tenure at GVSU.

Jackson Meeks, WR, Syracuse

Meeks (6-2, 210 pounds) is signing with the Lions, per his agency. He notched 1,021 yards and seven TDs on 78 catches last season. He’s the nephew of former Lions defensive end Za’Darius Smith, who was released earlier this offseason but is staying in contact with the team regarding a potential reunion.

Mason Miller, OL, North Dakota State

Miller (6-7, 305 pounds) is signing with the Lions, per NDSU Athletics.

He spent five seasons with the Bison, including the last three as a full-time starter.

Of his 41 career starts, 29 came at right tackle and 12 came at left guard.

Caden Prieskorn, TE, Ole Miss

Prieskorn (6-5, 255 pounds) is signing with the Lions, per Ole Miss.

He began his collegiate career at Memphis before joining the Rebels, with whom he logged 850 yards and seven touchdowns in 23 appearances.

He went to high school at Orchard Lake St. Mary’s.

Anthony Tyus III, RB, Ohio

Tyus (6-1, 215 pounds) is signing with the Lions, per Ohio Football.

He impressed at Ohio last season, racking up a Mid-American Conference-best 1,215 yards and nine touchdowns on 237 carries. The Portage Northern product also chipped in 137 yards and two scores as a receiver.
