The Alzheimer’s Association needs volunteers to help at its Sonoma-Marin Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Oct. 3 at Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park. A variety of opportunities are available, including cheering the walkers on along the route and helping direct vehicles in the parking lot.

Senior Advocacy Services in Petaluma seeks volunteers to join its Ombudsman program.

Volunteers advocate for residents in skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, ensuring their rights are respected. The work requires compassion, empathy, strong listening and communication skills.

Volunteers must pass a background check, have reliable transportation and commit to at least 16 hours per month.

Certification training will be provided. Assignments are available in all Sonoma County communities.
