The Sports Bra, the nation’s first sports bar dedicated to women’s sports, is expanding to four new locations in Boston, Indianapolis, Las Vegas and St. Louis.
The original Sports Bra, which opened in Portland, Oregon, in April 2022, was the brainchild of entrepreneur Jenny Nguyen, who wanted to create a space that celebrated women and girls in sports.
Other women’s-centered sports bars have sprung up across the country since then, including The 99ers Sports Bar in Denver, Rough & Tumble in Seattle and Title 9 Sports Grill in Phoenix.
Famed Kronk boxing gym to reopen in Detroit rec center where Joe Louis once trained
DETROIT >> The Kronk Gym where Detroit boxing royalty sweated on the road to glory is expected to reopen this summer in a building where Hall of Famer Joe Louis once trained.
The Brewster Wheeler Recreation Center will be the gym’s new home, city leaders and the team behind the project told reporters Wednesday.
The room that housed the gym where Louis trained remains in the building’s basement. But the center had become so dilapidated that it faced a wrecking ball about a decade ago, Mayor Mike Duggan said.
Duggan said he was urged to pause the demolition order by some who wanted to preserve the building’s history and its importance to the community.

BENGALURU, India >> At least 11 people are dead and more than 30 injured after a stampede on Wednesday as crowds tried to enter a cricket stadium in southern India’s Karnataka state, authorities said.
The crush happened as tens of thousands of cricket fans gathered outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru city to celebrate the winners of the Indian Premier League, the world’s most popular T20 cricket tournament.
Karnataka state’s Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who only uses one name, said the crowd tried to break one of the stadium’s gates and enter to take part in celebrations.
Eleven people were killed and 33 others were injured, Siddaramaiah said, adding that most of the injured were stable and receiving treatment in hospitals.
“At a time of celebration, this unfortunate event should not have happened. We are saddened by this,” he told reporters.
Ronaldo leads Portugal to Nations League final with its first win over Germany in 25 years
MUNICH >> Cristiano Ronaldo has led Portugal to its first win over Germany in 25 years.
The 40-year-old Ronaldo captained the team and scored his 137th international goal as Portugal came from behind to beat Germany 2-1 in Munich in their Nations League semifinal on Wednesday.
It was Portugal’s first win in Germany since a World Cup qualifier in Stuttgart in October 1985 — some six months after a future superstar was born in Madeira.
On his record-extending 220th appearance, Ronaldo became the oldest player to ever score against Germany while ending his “curse.” The former Real Madrid star lost each of the previous five games he’d played against Germany.
