The Scripps Fine Arts Foundation invites the public to attend its free monthly lectures and events September through May.

Founded in 1935, the Fine Arts Foundation is a volunteer organization whose purpose is to stimulate public interest in art, to develop greater opportunities for the study of art at Claremont’s Scripps College and to benefit the local arts community.

This season, the Fine Arts Foundation will offer presentations by local artists and explore art and ceramic collections at various venues with several programs presented in partnership with the Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery at Scripps College, according to a news release.

The season will open with artist Gorman Bentley speaking about his work 2 p.m. Sept. 10 at Williamson Gallery, 251 E. 11th St., Claremont.

Marciano and Richard Martinez will be the featured artists at a luncheon in October, Scripps alumna Pae White will speak about Qwalala, her glass brick sculpture on the campus of Claremont McKenna College, in November, and Nancy Macko will speak about her exhibition “Decompositions: Photography by Nancy Macko” at Williamson Gallery in January.

The Fine Arts Foundation will feature the Garcia Collection of Chicanx Art at the Claremont Lewis Museum of Art in February and the 80th Scripps College Ceramic annual exhibition at Williamson Gallery in March.

Pastel artist Rosh Ash will speak in April, and Jeff Faust will be the featured artist for the spring luncheon, co-hosted with the Rembrandt club.
