Quarterback health is among the major Week 10 storylines for games involving Top 25 teams.

Penn State coach James Franklin said Drew Allar’s availability might not be known until game time of today’s matchup between the No. 3 Nittany Lions and No. 4 Ohio State in Happy Valley.

Pittsburgh coach Pat Narduzzi said he was in wait-and-see mode with Eli Holstein for the No. 18 Panthers’ game at No. 20 SMU, and the Mustangs’ Kevin Jennings is questionable with an undisclosed injury.

Indiana coach Curt Cignetti said he was optimistic Kurtis Rourke will return for the No. 13 Hoosiers’ game at Michigan State.

Texas Tech’s Behren Morton is questionable for the Red Raiders’ game at No. 11 Iowa State, which will be trying to go 8-0 for the first time in program history.

Michigan’s situation for its home game against No. 1 Oregon got clarity Monday when Jack Tuttle announced he was giving up football following a fifth concussion. Davis Warren will make his second straight start and fifth of the season for the Wolverines.

Penn State’s Allar injured his left knee in last week’s win at Wisconsin and did not play the second half. Beau Pribula, who led the Nittany Lions to a 28-13 win, would get the start if Allar can’t play.

Holtstein left Pitt’s win over Syracuse with an undisclosed injury. Nate Yarnell, who started two games last season, replaced Holstein and would be the starter against SMU if Holstein is out. Jennings was hurt late in SMU’s overtime win at Duke.

Rourke injured the thumb on his right (throwing) hand against Nebraska two weeks ago. He had surgery and missed last week’s game against Washington with Tayven Smith playing in his place.

Morton hurt his left shoulder in the first half against TCU and was replaced by freshman Will Hammond.

Best game

No. 4 Ohio State (6-1, 3-1 Big Ten) at No. 3 Penn State (7-0, 4-0): Franklin has an Ohio State problem. The Buckeyes have beaten the Nittany Lions seven straight times, and in three of those seasons it marked Penn State’s first loss (2017, 2018, 2023).

Penn State is the higher-ranked team for the first time since 2017 and, based on the second half against Wisconsin, feels good about its chances even if Allar can’t play.

Ohio State is coming off a one-point loss at Oregon and a flat performance in last week’s 21-17 home win over Nebraska. The Buckeyes have injury and performance issues on the left side of the offensive line, and the running game is struggling.

Other key games

No. 1 Oregon (8-0) at Michigan (5-3): Oregon has a chance to be 9-0 for the first time since 2012, the last season it was No. 1 in the AP Top 25, and to stay in a position to earn top seeding in the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff (CFP). The defending champion Wolverines have had an underwhelming season and an upset would provide a desperately needed boost.

No. 2 Georgia (6-1) vs. Florida (4-3) at Jacksonville: At stake just might be Georgia’s spot in the CFP. With No. 19 Ole Miss and then seventh-ranked Tennessee up next, the Bulldogs probably can’t afford a slip-up against Florida. Georgia has won three in a row and six of seven against the Gators in the neutral-site rivalry nicknamed “The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.” Florida coach Billy Napier, who is 1-9 in rivalry games, needs victories in November to secure a fourth year in Gainesville.

No. 5 Miami (8-0) vs. Duke (6-2): The Hurricanes need a win to continue their unbeaten start and keep the inside track toward a berth in the CFP. Duke will try to avoid falling below the .500 mark in ACC play.

No. 7 Tennessee (6-1) vs. Kentucky (3-5): The Volunteers are rested coming off an open date following their big win over Alabama. The Vols remain in control for a berth in the CFP with no margin for error. Kentucky has dropped five of seven and three in a row since upsetting Mississippi. They’re in danger of missing the postseason for the first time in nine years. The Wildcats also have lost 10 of their past 12 SEC games.

No. 10 Texas A&M (7-1) at South Carolina (4-3): The Volunteers are rested coming off an open date following their big win over Alabama. The Vols remain in control for a berth in the CFP with no margin for error. Kentucky has dropped five of seven and three in a row since upsetting Mississippi. They’re in danger of missing the postseason for the first time in nine years. The Wildcats also have lost 10 of their past 12 SEC games.

No. 11 Iowa St. (7-0) vs. Texas Tech (5-3): Iowa State will try to go 8-0 for the first time in program history. Texas Tech has won the past two meetings by a combined seven points. The Red Raiders slipped into a four-way tie for fifth in the Big 12 after squandering a 17-point second-half lead and losing 35-34 to TCU. Tech can become eligible for a fourth straight bowl.

No. 11 Clemson (6-1) vs. Louisville (5-3): Clemson has been on a tear since losing its opener to then-No. 1 Georgia, winning six in a row by lopsided margins. The Tigers must keep winning as one of four ACC teams still undefeated in league play to stay on track for a return to the championship game. Louisville had hoped to be in the mix, too, but has lost to ranked opponents in Miami and SMU to fall off the pace.

No. 13 Indiana (8-0) at Michigan St. (4-4): The Hoosiers are playing for a lot more than a third straight road win in this series or taking the Old Brass Spittoon for the third time in five years. They’re one of eight remaining unbeaten teams, in the mix for one of the 12 CFP spots and another win would give them a school record 9-0 start. The Spartans are hoping to rebound from a 24-17 loss at Michigan and keep their bowl hopes alive.

No. 17 Kansas St. (7-1) at Houston (3-5): Kansas State aims to remain in the hunt for a spot in the Big 12 championship game and a chance to make the CFP. The Wildcats, who have won four straight since opening conference play with a loss to BYU, are looking for their longest winning streak since winning six straight to end the 2016 season and start the 2017 season. Houston is looking to keep its bowl hopes alive after winning last week on a field goal as time expired.

No. 18 Pittsburgh (7-0) at No. 20 SMU (7-1): This is an unexpected November matchup of ACC teams without a conference loss. Pittsburgh is trying to get to 8-0 overall for the first time since 1981 after being picked to finish near the bottom of the expanded 17-team league. ACC newcomer SMU has won its first four conference games, the past three on the road, since beating Florida State 42-16 in its last home game Sept. 28.
