MOUNTAIN VIEW >> A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries in a crash Tuesday afternoon in Mountain View, according to authorities.

The solo-vehicle crash happened shortly before 2 p.m. on Shoreline Boulevard just north of Villa Street, the Mountain View Police Department said in a news release.

Officers arrived to find the motorcyclist unconscious in the roadway. The person was taken to an area hospital, police said.

The motorcyclist is a 22-year-old Mountain View resident, authorities said. Police said Wednesday that he was still listed in critical condition with several broken bones, including fractures to his skull and face.

Northbound lanes were closed while officers collected evidence and interviewed potential witnesses.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but alcohol and drugs did not appear to play a role, police said.
