Emily Santiago scored twice, and Aptos High’s girls soccer team scored four unanswered goals to rally for a 5-2 nonleague win over visiting Mountain View on Tuesday.

Alexa Castaneda had a goal and two assists for the Mariners (3-2-0), and Gigi Zuniga had a goal and an assist.

“The whole team played great; they stepped on the field very cohesively,” said Gina Castaneda, the Mariners head coach.

Zuniga gave the Mariners the lead when she finished off a pass from Izzy Graff in the seventh minute.

Mountain View (5-2-0), a Central Coast Section Division II finalist last season, jumped ahead after it scored on corner kicks in the 10th and 13th minutes.

Castaneda finished off a pass from Zuniga to knot the score at 2-all in the 28th minute.Isabella Hartnett scored on a pass from Castaneda in the 39th minute, and the Mariners led 3-2 at the half.

Santiago scored on a pass from Anahi Macias in the 43rd minute, and she produced her second goal in the 50th minute, when she finished off a pass from Castaneda.

Goalkeeper Evelyn Pini made five saves for the Mariners, who play at Christopher (4-2-1) in Gilroy on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Women’s basketball

Shasta 59, at Cabrillo 53 >> Freshman forward Gabby Brooks made two 3-pointers and scored a team-high 15 points, but the Seahawks lost their nonconference game to close 2024 on Tuesday.

Cabrillo (11-4) trailed 34-29 at the half. Seahawks coach Tony Marcopulos was assessed a technical foul with 9:29 left in the second quarter.

Freshman guard Sydney Chesnut made three 3-pointers and scored 13 points for Cabrillo. Sophomore guard Jade Crum made two 3s and scored 11 points.

Sophomore forward/center Graceyn Harlan scored 15 points for the Knights (10-8). Sophomore guard Emma Gaddy scored 13 points, and Bailey Matos added 10 points.

Cabrillo hosts Lemoore (4-10) on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Men’s basketball

At Skyline 83, Cabrillo 64 >> The Seahawks suffered their fifth straight loss to close 2024 on Tuesday.

The Trojans improved to 11-1 with their win.

Cabrillo (7-8) hosts Cañada (10-2) on Friday at 5 p.m.
