The Woodland Camera Forum will hold a free presentation on photography techniques by photographer Jan Lightfoot.
The presentation will take place Monday, Jan. 20, at 7 p.m. at the Living Hope Church, 240 N. West St. in Woodland.
Lightfoot’s presentation, titled “An Evening with ICM and Possibly Other Fun Things” will cover the techniques of Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) for artistic and unique effects to your photography.
Load up your Smartphone with some apps: Slow Shutter, AvgCamPro, for iPhones, and Slow Shutter, Bluristic and FV5, for Android. Bring your Smartphones and have a little fun and talk about creative ways to make compelling ICM photographs and create stories with a combination of technical skills, artistic vision, and experimentation. Questions are welcome!
According to Lightfoot’s biography, her passion for photography has been a self-taught and lifelong journey, evolving from her high school darkroom to professional endeavors across various platforms. Starting with the Idaho Statesman newspaper staff as a photographer, and then gaining extensive experience in custom color printing labs in Idaho and California.
Lightfoot’s expertise was further recognized when she became a Certified Photographic Counselor through the Photo Marketing Association while managing Wentling’s Camera in Walnut Creek in the 1980s.
Over the last 14 years, she has been sharing her knowledge and love of photography with students of photography through presentations to camera clubs and leading photographic workshops throughout Northern California.
“Many of my photographic images tend to reflect a long association with classic and traditional compositions with an emphasis on nature,” Lightfoot states. “More recently, I am enjoying a slight departure into the world of altered realities, ICM, and artistic stylizing. I find the challenge of creating altered images with my own original images to be a wonderful exercise in imagination.”
