Two local companies offer a fresh solution to the dinnertime dilemma with nutritious meals delivered weekly.

Last August, Novato native and functional nutrition practitioner Alanna DeSalvo teamed up with Sonoma chef and hospitality veteran Seth Johnson to launch With Thyme Provisions. The service combines DeSalvo’s holistic wellness expertise with Johnson’s culinary skills to bring nutrient-dense meals to homes in Marin, Sonoma and Napa counties.

“We aim to provide a convenient solution for those seeking top-quality, healthy meals without the time commitment of cooking,” DeSalvo wrote in an email.

Each weekly menu is purposefully crafted to provide balanced nutrition with 30 grams of protein per meal, a variety of vegetables and wholesome carbohydrates. These are designed to stabilize blood sugar and promote steady energy.

The duo draws inspiration from the Sunday Marin farmers market in San Rafael, where they source ingredients from regional vendors such as Stemple Creek Ranch in Tomales and Star Route Farm in Bolinas, among others.

Recent menu highlights include Moroccan meatball stew with chickpeas, carrots, cauliflower and preserved lemons; shepherd’s pie with sweet potatoes and fresh herbs; roast chicken and mustard greens salad with crispy shallots; and poached tuna with Borlotti beans, arugula and whipped ricotta.

Snacks like dark chocolate chia pudding with cashew sesame milk and passion fruit coconut panna cotta add a sweet but health-conscious touch. All meals are gluten-free, organic and low glycemic, with detailed nutrition information provided on the website.

Place orders by midnight Thursdays for delivery the following Tuesday afternoon. Each weekly compostable package has four to six snack and entree servings that are ready to reheat in under 10 minutes.

Table for All

San Rafael resident Dee Wagner, owner of Dee Wagner Events and Roux Catering, is reviving her meal delivery service in February with the limited winter debut of Table for All.

Subscribers can sign up for a three-week plan to receive one dinner for two each week, delivered on Thursdays, Feb. 6, 13 and 27 ($240). Meals arrive by noon in insulated bags with reheating instructions.

Ingredients come from local farms and ranches like Star Route Farms, Stemple Creek Ranch and Rossotti Ranch, with whom Wagner regularly collaborates in her events business. Poached steelhead salmon with dill crème fraiche, chicken adobo, three-cheese mac and cheese, roasted baby golden beets and apple pear cobbler are a few dishes on the menu.Wagner founded her full-service wedding and event company in January 2020, three months before the pandemic disrupted her plans. Instead, she and volunteers began preparing lunches for distribution at the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Marin County when its dining room temporarily closed, covering the food costs with profits from what became a popular meal delivery service.

This led her to establish NoHungerHere, a nonprofit that provides nourishing meals to individuals experiencing homelessness.

Wagner’s latest initiative, Table for All, offers a hot lunch twice a week to 40 residents at a city-sanctioned campground in San Rafael, with thoughtful touches like flowers and linens.

Last week, the buffet featured organic greens with watermelon radish and an edible flower vinaigrette, roasted delicata squash and Brussels sprouts, layered chicken gratin and snickerdoodle cookies.

The project will receive $10 from every meal delivery subscription sold through March.

“Our goal is to raise $5,000, and we believe this project beautifully illustrates the power of community and kindness in addressing hunger and homelessness,” Wagner wrote in an email.

Meal delivery is available in Marin, Berkeley, Albany, Kensington and Oakland, with additional fees for West Marin and towns more than 10 miles from Berkeley. For more information or to place an order, visit deewagner.com/catering-delivery-dinners or email hello@deewagner.com.
