The girls tennis season is underway.

The 10 players below aren’t necessarily the top players in the area. But all of them should be intriguing to watch throughout the season.

Ranye Ezenekwe, Peak to Peak: The senior reached the state title match at 3A No. 3 singles last year. She boasted a 16-3 record.

Isabelle Jacobsma, Dawson: The junior went 10-4 in the 2024 regular season at No. 1 singles. She eventually placed fourth at the Class 3A state tournament and also helped lead the Mustangs to the quarterfinals in the 3A team postseason.

Annabelle Kenny, Holy Family: The senior was the state runner-up at 3A No. 2 singles a year ago. This year, she will lead the Tigers as their ace.

Saha Kolli, Niwot: The Cougars senior reached the 4A No. 1 singles semifinals last year before falling to the eventual state champion, Kent Denver’s Lila Moldenhauer.

Stella Laird, Fairview: She placed fourth in No. 1 singles at the 5A individual tournament a year ago. She’ll be among a short-list of 5A No. 1 state title contenders this spring.

August Muncy, Skyline: The senior takes over as team captain in her swan song. She’s the Falcons’ No. 1 singles player after playing No. 1 doubles a year ago.

Lizzie Owens, Erie: The senior won a regional championship and qualified for the individual state tournament as a No. 2 doubles player. Now, she’s moving all the way up to play No. 1 singles this spring.

Ishani Pandey, Monarch: The senior had a winning record while playing 5A No. 1 singles last year. Her coach, Billy Downs, believes she’ll excel at the 4A level. He said she has leveled up since last spring.

Shannon Schmidt, Prospect Ridge Academy: The sophomore reached the semifinals at 3A No. 3 singles before falling to Ezenekwe. She had a 10-2 record.

Layla Zainy, Broomfield: The Eagles junior reached the 5A individual state tournament at No. 3 singles in 2024. She has matches at 2 and 3 singles so far this spring.
