Kevin Durant’s trade to the Houston Rockets is official, and officially record-setting.
The deal got approved by the NBA on Sunday as part of a seven-team transaction, one in which a slew of other trade agreements got folded into one massive package.
Involved in the deal: Phoenix, Houston, Atlanta, Minnesota, Golden State, Brooklyn and the Los Angeles Lakers. It includes a total of 13 players — the headline moves include Durant going to Houston from Phoenix, the Rockets sending Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks to the Suns, and the Rockets acquiring Clint Capela from the Hawks.
The seven-team involvement in the Durant trade tops the previous record, a six-team transaction last summer that most notably sent Klay Thompson to the Dallas Mavericks.
There will be at least five second-round draft picks in the deal before all terms are satisfied, the potential for another second-round pick swap and the Hawks and Timberwolves both had to receive some cash considerations to make all the math work. And some of those draft picks won’t actually be made until 2032, which raises the serious possibility that some players who will go down in history as being part of the trade haven’t reached high school yet.
The Timberwolves received the draft rights to Australian center Rocco Zikarsky, two future second-round picks and cash considerations in the deal.
Minnesota also officially announced its trade of Nickeil Alexander-Walker to the Atlanta Hawks for a future second-round pick and cash considerations.

Nationals fire Martinez as manager, Rizzo as GM
Manager Dave Martinez and general manager Mike Rizzo were fired by the Washington Nationals on Sunday in moves that were surprising for their timing, even if the club is more than halfway through its sixth consecutive losing season since winning the 2019 World Series.
The team announced the changes just hours after Washington’s 6-4 loss at home completed a sweep by the Boston Red Sox. The Nationals are 37-53 and last in the NL East; the only National League club with a worse record is the Colorado Rockies.
But the amateur draft is just a week away, and Washington has the No. 1 overall pick.
Senior VP and assistant GM Mike DeBartolo is taking over for Rizzo on an interim basis. A replacement for Martinez wasn’t named immediately.
Sunday unkind to Saints again in Georgia
The St. Paul Saints finished up a six-game road series against Gwinnett with a 12-1 loss on Sunday. St. Paul was 2-4 in the series and have now lost six of its last seven Sunday games, being outscored 68-38 in the process.
Connor Gillispie started Sunday’s game for the Saints, with the right-hander allowing nine runs on eight hits and four walks in 3 2/3 innings.
Patrick Winkel supplied the offense with his sixth homer.

Norris wins thrilling F1 British Grand Prix
Lando Norris won a thrilling, wet British GP on Sunday. Amid spins, crashes and controversy, Norris held on to win and cut the gap to his teammate and title rival Oscar Piastri.
He started third on the grid, overtook Max Verstappen for second, lost the place again due to a slow pit stop, then saw Verstappen spin out ahead of him. He took the lead after Piastri had to serve a 10-second penalty for sharp braking behind the safety car earlier.
