RYE - Rye, NH – Helen Elizabeth Sloane, 91, of Rye, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, June 14, 2025. v Born in Allston, Boston, MA, on December 16, 1933, she was the daughter of the late William and Margaret (Mulcahy) Farquharson. Helen was the beloved wife of William “Bill” Sloane, with whom she shared 65 years of marriage, and a life filled with love, laughter, and dancing. Together they raised four “perfect” sons—just ask her.

Her warmth and humor were matched only by her generosity. It was impossible to leave her home without homemade cookies, and even the neighborhood dogs knew they were welcome to stop by for a treat. Helen had a gift for making every moment special. From decorating her home to match the seasons to hosting gatherings where she insisted you don’t just “have” a good time—you make it a good time—she brought joy and intention to everything she did. In 1976, Helen and Bill purchased their beloved beach house in Rye. They spent weekends and vacations there before moving full-time, creating countless memories walking Jenness Beach, dancing on Saturday nights at the Marty Land the Moose Club, and making friends with neighbors who quickly became like family. Left to cherish her memory are her sons: William and his wife Eleanor of Malden, MA; Paul and his wife Leigh of Greenland, NH; Stephen and his wife Glenda of Somerville, MA; and Scott and his wife Candace of Bow, NH. She was a loving grandmother to Peter and his wife Beth, Nicholas and his wife Ashley, Stephanie and her husband Chandler Peterson, Spenser, Emily, and Nick Gorman and his wife Julia, and a devoted great grand mother to Nathaniel and Adam.
