A car accident in unincorporated Bremen Township left two men dead Thursday night, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office.

Tamer Mousa-Romman, 26, of Worth and Salahaldeen Khaled-Khatabeh, 23, of Bridgeview died from injuries sustained in the accident Dec. 26, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Sheriff police responded at 10:42 p.m. to a report of a crash involving two vehicles near the intersection of 143rd Street and Harlem Avenue, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.

A 2018 Kia sedan was traveling north on 143rd Street when it swerved into oncoming traffic in the southbound lanes and struck a 2021 Lexus sedan, police said.

The driver of the Kia was transported to an area hospital where they were pronounced dead, police said. A passenger in the Kia was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver and passenger in the Lexus were transported to an area hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries, police said.

The Cook County sheriff’s office is investigating the crash.

In Park Forest, a man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Dec. 26, police said.

Rory Jurgenson Jr., 33, of Park Forest was pronounced dead at 7:35 a.m. at Franciscan Health Olympia Fields hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Park Forest police and firefighters responded at 6:37 a.m. to a crash near 26th Street and Western Avenue, police said.

An initial investigation by Park Forest police found the driver’s vehicle drifted into oncoming traffic causing a head-on collision with another vehicle, police said.

Officers and paramedics tried to save the driver of the first vehicle, who was found unresponsive, but he succumbed to his injuries, police said.

The driver of the second vehicle was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The Park Forest police and the Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team are investigating the crash.
