Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger said this week that a new county commission dedicated to the rebuilding and recovery of Altadena will likely be in existence for about five years.
The Altadena Recovery Commission, which Barger announced last week, is still in formation. But on Monday in a virtual town hall meeting, she noted that once it’s up and running, it will last likely about five years.
“ARC is going to be driven by the community,” she said.
Barger said last week that the commission will bring together private sector experts in housing development, architecture, infrastructure, finance and governance to the table. The commission, which will be seated with community members from the unincorporated Altadena and with her a its chair, will “infuse urgency and additional expertise, driving the execution of the rebuild by working alongside the County’s subject matter experts.”
She said there is no formal application process to be on ARC, but when she announced it on Feb. 3, she said it will leverage the experience of its members to guide recovery in the area.
Anyone interested in joining the ARC may email Kathryn@bos.lacounty.gov, Barger said.
More information was coming, she said.
