Vivian Seidman, 91, of Boulder, CO passed away on June 19, 2024.

Vivian was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1933 and received her high school diploma from the public school system in Brooklyn, where history was her favorite subject.

Vivian met her husband, Irwin, also from Brooklyn, in 1950.

They became engaged to be married shortly after seeing a Broadway production with the original cast of South Pacific and were married in1952. After Irwin graduated from Brooklyn College and received a Court Reporting Degree from Columbia University, he enlisted in the Air Force which was during the Korean War. While in the Air Force, they were transferred to Lowry Air Force Base in Denver. Vivian and Irwin remained in Colorado and were residents of Boulder since the early sixties.

Vivian's pride was her family. She often talked about how she'd had a good life, having been married to a wonderful man for 70 years. She was proud of her children, their spouses and her grandchildren, and was thrilled to have a great-granddaughter.

Vivian was proceeded in death by her husband, Irwin. She is survived by her children, Mitchell Seidman (Lili), Debbie Seidman (Greg Stark) and Lawrence Seidman (Kathy); grandchildren, Beth Seidman (Steven Li), Jason Seidman and Haley Seidman (Jared Lazarz), and great-granddaughter Lia Li.

Irwin and Vivian were founding members of Congregation Har Ha Shem in Boulder, and she helped establish Boulder's first Jewish cemetery. As a family friend says, "long before the feminist movement Vivian stood strong for anything she believed was right. God bless her." Vivian was also active in working in the role as office manager for her husband's business, Seidman Deposition Reporting.

Vivian enjoyed watching classical music, ballet, and musicals, and she was an avid basketball fan.

She and her husband were decades-long members in the Air Force Academy Quarterback Club of Denver, and they were active at the Boulder Elks Club, where Irwin was a member.

Vivian taught herself to swim in the ocean as a child near Brighton Beach, NY, a passion she passed to her three children. She taught her children to swim at the Boulder Reservoir before many pools were built in Boulder. She volunteered, teaching swim lessons with Head Start at the YMCA when it was the first and only indoor pool in Boulder.

Vivian was involved with a senior organization for many years called The Young and Old that held monthly gatherings/luncheons (back then, she was the young, the seniors were the old).

In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choice.
