Chris Wright singled in the bottom of the ninth inning, driving in Aki Buckson to lift the San Rafael Pacifics to a 7-6 home win against the Martinez Sturgeon at Albert Park on Sunday.

San Rafael trailed 6-3 heading into the eighth inning but scored on a passed ball to pull within 6-4 going into the ninth. Kyle Guerra hit into a fielder’s choice in the ninth inning, scoring Jairahme Morales. Keith Whitaker also came around to score the tying run on the play following an error by the Martinez shortstop.

San Rafael (14-6 Pecos), which secured its third consecutive win, was limited to six hits but benefited from five Martinez errors. Wright paced the Pacifics with two hits and two RBIs. John Bicos also had two hits.

Richard Kiel tossed 3.2 innings of no-hit relief to pick up the victory.

San Rafael was coming off a much more comfortable win on Saturday, a 7-3 victory against the Vallejo Seaweed. Bicos had two hits and three RBIs in that game. Buckson hit his fourth home run of the season.

Buckson, Mark Hernandez, and Gino Hutchinson all had two hits for the Pacifics, who pulled away late with single runs in the bottom of the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings.

Starting pitcher Chris Allen struck out nine hitters in five innings while earning the victory.

The Pacifics are set to hit the road against Vallejo on Monday.
