


Homicides were reported in Calumet City, Country Club Hills and South Holland in the past week, according to authorities.
Gabriel Jones, 26, of the 6300 block of South Bell in Chicago, was shot multiple times Tuesday and pronounced just before 9 a.m. in the 1200 block of Burnham Avenue in Calumet City, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Also Tuesday, Country Club Hills police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 169th Street and Glen Oaks Drive and found a man who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was identified by the Cook County medical examiner’s office as 21-year-old Jashawn Davison, of the 16900 block of Sunset Ridge Drive, Country Club Hills. The office ruled his death a homicide.
On June 3, South Holland police were called to a disturbance at a family gathering at a home in the 600 block of 156th Street.
Police said the scene was cleared, but they were called back a short time later for a report of shots fired. No victim was found, but police said they recovered shell casings.
Later that evening, a vehicle was stopped for speeding in Markham, and there were three people including the gunshot victim from the family gathering, South Holland police said.
He was alive at the time but later died of his injuries, police said.
The medical examiner’s office identified him as 21-year-old Rayshaun Ruffin, of the 14700 block of South Central Avenue in Oak Forest. He was pronounced dead at 11:39 p.m. June 3 at Ingalls Memorial in Harvey from a gunshot wound to the back, according to the office.
South Holland police said they are investigating the case with assistance from the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force. Police ask anyone with information to contact investigators at 708-331-3131, Ext. 2.
