


The Sacramento Kings have a chance to advance to the Las Vegas Summer League semifinals after beating the Cleveland Cavaliers to finish pool play with a 4-0 record.
Rookie first-round draft pick Nique Clifford had 19 points, seven rebounds and nine assists to lead the Kings to a 94-86 victory over the Cavaliers in a matinee affair Wednesday at UNLV’s Thomas & Mack Center.
Isaac Jones added 17 points for the Kings, who will wait to see if they are one of the top four teams in pool play based on record and point differential.
Isaiah Stevens, Taevion Kinsey and Daeqwon Plowden came off the bench to combine for 35 points. Devin Carter had 11 points, five rebounds and six assists. Rookie center Maxime Raynaud had 10 points, five rebounds and three blocked shots.
Former Duke star Tyrese Proctor scored 35 points for the Cavaliers (2-2). Nae’Qwan Tomlin had 18 points and 12 rebounds. Tristan Enaruna and Norchad Omier scored 11 points apiece.
Raynaud returned to Sacramento’s lineup after missing Monday’s game because of right wrist soreness. Unfortunately, the Kings were missing 2025 G League finals MVP Mason Jones, who was ruled out due to right oblique soreness.
The game was tied 23-23 at the end of the first quarter. The Kings had trouble with Tomlim, who posted 14 points and five rebounds in the opening period.
Sacramento took a 30-23 lead after outscoring Cleveland 7-0 to start the second quarter. The Kings went up 42-30 on a dunk by Isaac Jones. They led 50-40 at the halftime break.
Sacramento shot 54.5% in the first half while holding Cleveland to 30.2%. The Kings went just 1 of 12 from 3-point range, but they made 13 of 14 free throw attempts.
The Cavaliers came back to cut the deficit to one on a 3-pointer by Enaruna with 2:53 to play in the third quarter. The Kings led 68-65 going into the fourth.
Cleveland tied the game on a basket by Warith Alatishe early in the fourth quarter. Sacramento regained control after responding with a 7-0 run to take a 78-71 lead on a basket by Raynaud.
The Kings were one of eight teams with 3-0 records going into Wednesday’s games. The others were the Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets, Los Angeles Clippers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Oklahoma City Thunder, San Antonio Spurs and Toronto Raptors. Among those teams, the Kings (+12.7) had the fourth-best point differential behind the Raptors (+17.0), Spurs (+16.6) and Thunder (+15.0).
The Timberwolves and Thunder were scheduled to play later Wednesday. The Hawks, Spurs, Hornets, Raptors and Clippers will play Thursday. San Antonio was set to face Charlotte in a battle of unbeaten teams.
The top four teams, based on records and point differential, if necessary, will move into Saturday’s semifinals with a chance to advance to Sunday’s championship game.
The Kings have won two Las Vegas Summer League championships. Ray McCallum Jr. was named championship game MVP when the Kings beat the Houston Rockets in the 2014 finals.
Louis King won the championship game MVP award when the Kings defeated the Boston Celtics in the 2021 finals while Davion Mitchell shared tournament MVP honors with Brooklyn Nets guard Cameron Thomas.
