Native to San Jose
With very heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Anthony (“Tony”) Ventura, a beloved family man that will be dearly missed. Born and raised in San Jose, California, Tony went from a modest farm to develop a successful real estate business while never straying from his roots. Tony believed in working hard, staying true to his word and always placing his family first.
Tony was born and raised in East San Jose where he attended Samuel Ayer High School. While in high school, he met and began dating Linda, who would become his wife of 55 years. Tony played football, wrestled and played in a band called “The Crescents” with his brother Frank.
After high school, Tony served in the United States Air Force where he was primarily stationed in Guam. Upon returning home, he and Linda moved to Blossom Valley and started a family where they had their two children, Anthony Jr. and Nicole. Tony initially worked for R.C. Cola but then quickly transitioned into real estate. Tony started at Van Vleck Realty before working at Cornish & Carey, Coldwell Banker, and Century 21. In 2003, Tony founded Ventura Barnett Properties in the Almaden Valley and successfully operated that business until 2022.
Despite all his success in real estate, his greatest joy was his grandchildren, Anthony III, Dante, Taylor and Reed. On weekends, you could find Tony pacing the sidelines during football or soccer games or sitting in the stands at a basketball game harassing a scorekeeper to correct the points in the game. Whether the game was in Almaden, Oakland, Reno or Las Vegas, Tony was always there to tell the kids how great they played. Tony also looked forward to the holidays whether it be his infamous Easter egg hunts or the joyous Christmas celebrations. His family will forever miss his spirit and presence.
His family will host a Celebration of Life for friends and family to attend. Details to be announced at a later time.
