SAN JOSE — A man was killed and a suspect was arrested following a shooting in a residential neighborhood in South San Jose over the weekend, police said.

The shooting was reported around 10:40 p.m. Friday in the 6500 block of Camden Avenue, east of Almaden Expressway, according to the San Jose Police Department. Responding officers found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound, and he died at the scene.

His name was not publicly released pending his formal identification and notification of his next of kin by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.

Police reported that an ensuing investigation led to the arrest of a suspect in connection with the killing, but did not disclose any information about that person, or the circumstances of the shooting, as of Monday.

The death marked the city’s 11th homicide of the year investigated by San Jose police. San Jose had recorded 17 homicides at the same point in 2024, according to data compiled by this news organization.
