



There will be a new girls lacrosse champion in Division 2
Megan Shanahan had a terrific all-around game with two goals, two assists and four draw controls as No. 4 Reading stunned top-seeded Notre Dame (Hingham) 8-7 in a Division 2 state semifinal.
Molly Trahan had three goals and an assist, Abby Shanahan had a goal and three assists, while Lily Rodgers and Libby Quinn each had four draw controls. Addy Matthews had four saves for the Rockets.
Baseball
Jack Reed hit a game-winning two-run homer in the last of the seventh to give top-seeded Pittsfield (19-4) a 4-3 win over No. 9 Uxbridge in a Div. 4 state quarterfinal.
Class notes
Boston Herald Dream Teamer Bella Owumi and teammate Lily Norton transferred from St. Mary’s (Lynn) to Tilton in the fall. Owumi averaged 17 points and 12.2 rebounds a game in leading the Spartans to the Div. 3 state, while Norton was one of the steadier guards in the area. … North Andover named Ben Murphy as its new head hockey coach. A standout player at the University of Maine, Murphy spent the past two decades coaching at the collegiate level.
In addition to Murphy, the Scarlet Knights hired Don Viselli as its new girls hoop coach. He most recently served as an assistant at the Derryfield School.
