Whether you prefer a mint julep or a margarita, a glass is waiting for you at parties for the Kentucky Derby and Cinco de Mayo.

Kids, too, can celebrate the first weekend of May with food and fun at area libraries.

The 144th Kentucky Derby will be celebrated here with indoor and outdoor affairs at a Frankfort distillery and galleries, restaurants and shops in Lockport.

If Mexican food and fun are what you crave, check out a three-day Cinco de Mayo festival in Bridgeview, a taco buffet in Burbank, a fiesta in Orland Park, or mariachis and big burritos in Frankfort.
