Clayton Keller scored his second goal of the game at 4:05 of overtime, and the visiting Utah Hockey Club beat the New York Rangers 6-5 on Saturday night for their third win in three games this season.
Barret Hayton, Jack McBain, Kevin Stenlund and Dylan Guenther also scored for Utah. Connor Ingram made 29 saves.
Hayton has scored in each of Utah’s three games, and Guenther has five goals.
Artemi Panarin, who led New York with 49 goals and 120 points last season, scored twice. Adam Fox had three assists.
SABRES 5, PANTHERS 2 >> Jordan Greenway and Tage Thompson scored 41 seconds apart in the first period, and host Buffalo ended a season-opening three-game skid with a win over Florida.
Henri Jokiharju, Mattias Samuelsson and Alex Tuch, with an empty-netter, also scored for the Sabres, who combined for three goals in their first three outings. Lindy Ruff won his first game in his second stint as Sabres coach.
The Panthers have lost two straight since a season-opening win over Boston.
KRAKEN 5, WILD 4, SO >> Jordan Eberle had two goals in regulation and scored the winner in the shootout as Seattle rallied on the road to defeat Minnesota.
Tye Kartye and Jared McCann also scored in regulation for Seattle. Joey Daccord stopped 34 shots.
Minnesota’s Mats Zuccarello and Seattle’s Oliver Bjorkstrand scored in the first round of the shootout. After the Wild’s Kirill Kaprizov missed, Eberle scored. Daccord stuffed Matt Boldy to seal the win.
RED WINGS 3, PREDATORS 0 >> Cam Talbot stopped 41 shots for his 32nd career shutout in his first start for Detroit, which beat visiting Nashville.
J.T. Compher, Andrew Copp and Dylan Larkin scored for Detroit.
MAPLE LEAFS 4, PENGUINS 2 >> Mitch Marner had a goal and an assist, and Toronto won its home opener over Pittsburgh.
William Nylander had two goals for Toronto, including an empty-netter. .
It was the home debut for Toronto coach Craig Berube, who was hired in May. The Maple Leafs split their first two games of the season on the road.
CANADIENS 4, SENATORS 1 >> Emil Heineman and Cole Caufield scored first-period goals and Montreal went on to beat visiting Ottawa.
After Alex Newhook boosted the Canadiens’ lead to 3-0 early in the third period, Tim Stutzle ended Sam Montembeault’s bid for a second straight shutout.
Caufield completed the scoring in the third with his second goal of the game and fourth of the season.
DEVILS 5, CAPITALS 3 >> Paul Cotter scored twice, giving him four goals through four games this season, and New Jersey won at Washington.
Capitals star Alex Ovechkin was held without a shot for only the 23rd time in his distinguished career, though he did have an assist and six hits. Washington’s captain started his 20th season 42 goals from breaking Wayne Gretzky’s NHL record of 894.
STARS 3, ISLANDERS 0 >> Tyler Seguin scored twice, Jake Oettinger made 33 saves in his 11th career regular-season shutout and Dallas won at home over New York.
BLUE JACKETS 6, AVALANCHE 4 >> Kirill Marchenko and Yegor Chinakhov scored in a three-goal second period for Columbus in a road win over Colorado.
Marchenko and Chinakhov both had two assists. Sean Monahan added a goal and two assists.
SHARKS PUT CELEBRINI ON IR >> The San Jose Sharks placed rookie Macklin Celebrini on the injured reserve list with a lower-body injury. Coach Ryan Warsofsky said Celebrini is week to week.
The move came two days after Celebrini made an impressive debut by recording a goal and an assist in an overtime loss to the St. Louis Blues.
The 18-year-old Celebrini was picked first overall in the June draft.
