Jaime Martinez, 34, of the 300 block of Ball Street, Elgin, was charged with a class 3 felony count of possession of methamphetamine and a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia following an arrest Tuesday afternoon in Elgin.

According to Elgin police, Martinez was pulled over on a traffic stop in the area of Center Street. An officer called for a K-9 unit, which then alerted on the car.

A small amount of methamphetamine and a pipe were found in the vehicle, police said.

Martinez's bail amount was not immediately available.

His next court date is set for Nov. 16.
