Rainbow flags, live music, community resources and more were at hand as San Bernardino celebrated LGBTQ+ Pride Month on Thursday.
A free evening event was held at the Roosevelt Bowl stadium in Perris Hill Park. Attendees and allies celebrated pride with an annual drag show, hosted by queen Hunki Dori, and live music from DJ Commodore and Nubes-Caifanes band.
LGBTQ+ community vendors, giveaways and free HIV/STI testing were also offered.
San Bernardino is a “community that embraces every shade of the rainbow,” organizers said.
Thursday was the area’s second pride event organized by community partners including the Rainbow Pride Youth Alliance, San Bernardino Parks and Recreation, and San Bernardino County’s Welcome Home — an LGBTQ+ -focused transitional living facility in the city for 18 to 24-year-olds. The program’s mission, organizers said, is to reduce growing homelessness among the queer population.
Nonprofit Rainbow Pride Youth Alliance provides a space for LGBTQ+ youth and allies in the Inland Empire to meet, network, and find support and resources for gender affirmation and community building. More events and information can be found at rainbowprideyouthalliance. org.
San Bernardino Pride “celebrates equality and unity,” its organizers said, “where love knows no bounds.”
