


Disneyland annual passholders who didn’t move fast enough when reservations became available for the launch of the latest anniversary party will miss the rope drop and find themselves watching the park opening festivities from outside the front gates.
All Magic Key reservations are unavailable for Disneyland on May 16, when the yearlong 70th anniversary celebration kicks off at the Anaheim theme park.
Inspire Key, Believe Key and Enchant Key reservations are no longer available for May 16, according to the Disneyland website.
Disneyland makes reservations available on a rolling basis 90 days out on the Magic Key website.
Reservations are still available for Disney California Adventure on May 16 for Inspire, Believe and Enchant keyholders. Imagine keyholders are blocked out of Disneyland and DCA on May 16.
As always, passholders with DCA reservations can parkhop over to Disneyland starting at 11 a.m. on May 16.
Additional Magic Key reservations for May 16 could become available at any time if passholders cancel their plans or Disneyland decides to make more reservations available. Daily tickets and reservations for Disneyland and DCA are still available for May 16.
Disneyland finalized a $9.5 million class action lawsuit in 2024 that alleged the park artificially limited Magic Key capacity and restricted passholder reservations.
Magic Keyholders may not need to get into Disneyland before nightfall anyway on May 16 if they want to see any of the 70th anniversary entertainment — with the only new offering playing at DCA on the first day of the party.
The Paint the Night nighttime parade and “Wondrous Journeys” fireworks show will return to Disneyland on May 16 for the kickoff of the 70th anniversary celebration. DCA will see the return of the Pixar-themed Better Together parade and the debut of the new “World of Color Happiness” water show on May 16.
The new additions coming to Disneyland for the 70th celebration won’t debut until the actual anniversary date of the park’s 1955 grand opening.
Disneyland pushed back the debut of “Walt Disney — A Magical Life” in the Main Street Opera House from May 16 to July 17 as Walt Disney Imagineering continues to work on the Audio-Animatronic figure of the park’s visionary founder.
The two-month delay means the new show starring a Walt Disney animatronic won’t open on May 16 with the kickoff of Disneyland’s 70th anniversary celebration as originally planned.
Disneyland will roll out four new exhibits in the Main Street Opera House when “A Magical Life” debuts on July 17.
Disneyland will also add new lyrics to the It’s a Small World attraction and screen the “Last Verse” short film in the Main Street Cinema on July 17 as part of the 70th anniversary celebration.
