


Watsonville High’s boys track and field team scored 78 points to win its Pacific Coast Athletic League tri-meet against Monterey (50) and host Pajaro Valley (6) on Thursday.
Senior Gerardo Acosta-Perez took first in the 110-meter hurdles (17.92 seconds) and pole vault (11 feet, 6 inches) for the Wildcatz, who won eight events.
Watsonville junior Lisandro Pantoja broke the school record in the discus (154-4).
The Wildcatz also received wins from seniors Jared Sunga (1,600; 4:59.06) and Nathaniel Aceves-Aguilar (triple jump, 42-6), sophomore Nain Garcia-Ferria (3,200; 10:10.63), freshman Noel Navarro (300 hurdles, 46.87) and their 4×100 relay (47.64).
Aceves-Aguilar took second in the long jump (21-4) with a new school record.
Senior Izaak Ocampo took second in the triple jump (41-8) and broke Pajaro Valley’s school record.
At Aptos 99, Santa Cruz 36 >> Senior Casey MacConnell took first in the 100 (11.26), high jump (6-3), and long jump (21-8.5) in the Mariners’ SCCAL finale Thursday.
Senior Logan Brantley took first in the shot put (56-4), bettering his previous school record, and discus (147-1) for Aptos, and classmate Adrian Fernandez took first in the 100 hurdles (18.85) and triple jump (36-6).
The Mariners also won the 4×100 relay (43.80) and earned wins from senior Brett Swertfager (400, 54.58), and sophomores Anthony Sandford-Carroll (3,200; 10:16.83) and Bryce Boudreault (pole vault, 10-6).
Senior Eli Fitchen-Young took first in the 800 (1:59.8) and 1,600 (4:18.67) for Santa Cruz. The Cardinals also won the 4×400 relay (3:32.89) and earned wins from senior Dylan Hermanson (200, 22.72) and junior Kaden Steel (300 hurdles, 46.79).
Soquel, 94; at Harbor 41; St. Abraham’s 14 >> Senior Logan Walters, a blossoming decathlete, took first in the 100 (11.24), 200 (22.49), 110 hurdles (16.53), and pole vault (12-7) to help the Knights win their SCCAL finale Thursday.
Senior teammate Nolen Westfall took first in the high jump (6-0), the fifth best mark in school history, and triple jump (37-2).
The Knights took first in the 4×100 relay (45.16) and also earned wins from senior Tomas Church (300 hurdles, 45.07), junior Aiden Amsden (discus, 98-3), sophomore Chayton Merrell (800, 2:15.14), and freshmen Edgar Serna Esqueda (1,600; 5:09.75) and Tyler Sakkestad (long jump, 19-10.25).
Harbor senior Luke Wyland (400, 51.45) and sophomore teammate Daymen Magnuson-Chappell (shot put) earned first-place finishes, and the Pirates earned the win in the 4×400 relay (4:09.94).
Scotts Valley, Mt. Madonna at SLV >> Junior Anton Khomenko took first in the 100 (11.09), a school record, and 200 (22.59), the third best mark in school history, and the Falcons won 10 events in their SCCAL finale Thursday.
The Falcons took first in the 4×100 relay (44.47) and 4×400 relay (3:52.73) and also received wins from senior Ian Jory (400, 53.77), juniors Vaughn Chomentowski (long jump, 19-4), William von Haunalter (800, 2:07.48), and Aaron Weiss (1,600; 4:26.47), and freshmen Aaron Wheeler (110 hurdles, 18.61) and Vincent Mcdermott (300 hurdles, 50.25).
SLV earned wins from senior Cody Bumbaca-Thomas (shot put, 33-9.5), and freshmen Peter Heery (discus, 110-3) and Finn Lonsdale (high jump, 5-6).
Mount Madonna junior Eli Moody took first in the triple jump (36-7.5).
Girls
Soquel, 66; at Harbor 66; St. Abraham’s 7 >> Sophomores Kiko Leiani and Cecile Novembre each earned a pair on individual wins for the Pirates in their SCCAL finale Thursday.
Leiani took first in the 100 (13.38) and 200 (28.46), and Novembre took first in the high jump (4-0) and long jump (14-10.25).
The Pirates also won in the 4×400 relay (4:41.68), and received wins from juniors Lilyana Mickel (400, 1:07.54) and Hadassah Cohen (1,600; 6:03.82), and freshmen Addisun Kimmel (100 hurdles, 22.93) and Liahona Lefrandt (300 hurdles, 59.84).
Soquel juniors Ivory Woodson (triple jump, 30-5), Claire Ryan (800, 2:43.94), and Summer Shields (discus, 62-0) earned wins, as did sophomore Juliet Dunton (pole vault, 7-6), freshman Nevaeh Fellows (shot put, 19-5.5), and the Knights’ 4×100 relay (54.16). Woodson’s mark was the fourth best in school history.
At Aptos 73.67, Santa Cruz 61.33 >> Seniors Natasha Newcombe (400, 1:02.73), Siena Black (shot put, 23-10) and Izzy Graff (long jump, 15-6) earned first-place finishes for the Mariners in their SCCAL finale Thursday.
Aptos also won in the 4×100 relay (50.34) and earned wins from junior Maya Schiro (3,200; 11:46.64), sophomore Scarlett Stateler (discus, 74-10), and freshman Teagan Chevalier (triple jump, 29-0).
Santa Cruz had three athletes, senior Heidi Green, sophomore Joy Roberts, and freshman Haisley Flanagan, each win two individual events. Green took first in the 800 (2:25.59) and 1,600 (5:09.92), Roberts took first in the 100 (12.75) and 200 (25.83), and Flanagan took first in the 100 hurdles (18.80) and 300 hurdles (55.12).
The Cardinals also won the 4×400 relay (4:09.96) and earned wins from senior Meilia Nee (pole vault, 10-0) and junior Joy Hilldale (high jump, 4-9).
Scotts Valley, Mt. Madonna at SLV >> Mount Madonna senior Lagi Hunnicutt took first in the long jump (15-9) and triple jump (31-3) and sophomore teammate Gianna Clayton-Holmdahl took first in the shot put (17-11) and discus (48-4) in the SCCAL tri-meet to end the regular season on Thursday.
SLV took first in the 4×100 relay (54.63) and 4×400 relay (4:28.74) and also earned wins from senior Orea Pollock (high jump, 5-0), and freshmen Skyla Leggett (800, 2:33.59) and Stella Sutcliffe (1,600; 5:45.27).
Scotts Valley earned wins from seniors Rayne Leonetti (100, 13.00) and Sarah Drees (200, 26.44), and junior Dylan Turzak (400, 1:01.44).
Monterey 74, Watsonville 58 >> Senior Jocelyn Guzman took first in the 100 hurdles (18.66) and 300 hurdles (50.50) for the Wildcatz in their PCAL meet Thursday at Pajaro Valley High.
The Wildcatz also recieved wins from seniors Katelynn Ruiz (800, 2:31.92), Nelsy Hernandez (discus, 80-7), and Jayleen Arredondo (pole vault, 8-6), junior Azucena Sandoval (3,200; 11:55.02), and sophomore Brianna Vanegas (triple jump, 30-7).
